ADDE LXPLRILNCL NEEDE The Golf Team did not show the improvement expected due to locls of consistency and a raise-charge leader. Next year with added experience of present members and the addition of new players, which will create needed intra-squad competition, we should challenge for the championship. As the new coach of the Golf Team, it was a mutually pleasant and rewarding experience to worls with each one of these fine youngsters. The most improved golfer was Steve Kilberg, the Best Average was recorded by Dean Glossop, who also received All League-Honorable Mention. ANOTHER TRI- LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP After a disappointing season-opening lass to Southgate, the 1980 Girls Varsity Tennis Team rebounded with eleven straight wins to capture their fifth Tri-River League Championship in six years. The Rebels also tools a State C-D Regional Championship, with Martha Tryba Cfouth singlesb, Chris Pichan-Cathy Waicils Csecond doubIesD, Carol Depa-Colleen Welsh Csecond daublesb, and Patty Depafpatty Sterling Cthird doubles? each winning their flights, The Rebels edged Ann Arbor Greenhills for the title. At the State Champion- ship with the doubles teams leading the way by advancing to the semi-finals the girls finished seventh. Selected by the teammates for DOST season recognition were Nancy Varista Cthird singIesD as mast valuable player, Patty Sterling as most improved player, Colleen Welsh as outstanding roalsie, and Carrie Murray Csecond singles? as team captain.
