He was a true friend to all the students at RHS and a loyal member of his commun¬ ity. While attending what is now Memphis State Univer¬ sity he was an outstanding athlete participating in bas¬ ketball and football. Mr. Evans was a faithful sports fan and always supported the teams. Before being elected school Superintendent he served as Mayor of Decatur- ville, principal and coach of Decaturville High School, and a teacher at many schools in the surrounding area. Many a strident came to him with their problems, because they found him to be a sympa¬ thetic and understanding per¬ son. We loved him, admired him, respected him. He was our friend. Now he is with God, and his trials are over. 139
