LEFT - Top Magazine Salesmen. BOTTOM LEFT - Space lecture. BOTTOM RIGHT - Our new teachers. 4 Mrs. Allie Mae Stevens, Guidance Counselor, is always willing to help students at Riverside High School. With the use of machines, man can do many things. This skill will help them prepare for the future. 5 Opening day brings many talented speakers and . . . The typical day begins as the ‘yellow dogs’’ roll in. Students settle down for some hard studying and the day has started. . . . many interested visitors and parents The first order of the day is catching up on the latest “gossip.” The Riverside Students enjoy the class breaks to show their friendliness to each other. After a hard day of business - like procedure, Mr. Holmes leaves for the comforts of family life - - As the day ends, students again wait to board the buses to head home. 7 We dedicate this book with a feeling of deep affection for a wonderful person It is also dedicated with a feeling of gratitude for the many kindnesses and favors done for us. In the years to come, we will remember him as a friend, principal, and counselor. He is always near when someone needs a helping hand, and his strength of character, quiet dignity, and understanding symbolize the ideals we have set for ourselves. The dedication of the 1966 MEMORIES, which must represent a symbol of our gratitude, is a small token indeed with which to reward constant vigilance and calm and administrative activities. But we take this opportunity, however small, to express our sincere thanks to you, Mr. Harold Holmes, for being the guiding light by which our school functions. 8 ADMINISTRATION Mrs. Allie V. Johnson, librarian, is always willing to help students find material for their assignments. Mr. Harold Holmes, principal, is shown here in his office giving some important announcements over the intercom system. He has worked long hard hours in planning our school curriculum and school activities. Mrs. Carolyn Holmes, secretary and receptionist, serves as liaison person for the faculty and student body. Mrs. Allie Mae Stevens, guidance counselor, is one of the most valuable persons in school. Students who have questions concerning their school work are always wel¬ come in her office. MRS. HILDE WELCH MRS. MARY COLWICK MRS. ALICE REID MRS. NELLIE TUTON ENGLISH, SPEECH, JOURNALISM, AND FOREIGN LANGUAGE Here at Riverside we are very proud of our English Department. You have, perhaps, found the year a bit harder than your underclassmen. You were, in your final year of high school, jerked from your traditional schools and brought together into a school which had no tradition and which had no background. You Seniors have helped form a background for Riverside and have given it tradition. Your task has not been one to envy but we say it has been a job well done, for you have laid a very sound foundation on which future classes may build. You have met in the melting pot and have taken things tremendously well. No amount of recognition could ever repay you for this deed. This small tribute is but a fraction of what you deserve so, as your lives progress and many great men and women emerge from the class of 66, remember Riverside and re¬ member it with a thankful smile. 38 JUNIORS CLASS OF ’67 Vice-Pres.Sandra Keeton President.Jerry Butler Sec.
