,l 5 -- llnmmissinned Illffilzers Senior Class nf 1942 1938-1939. .We enter upon our freshman career as war is brewing in Europe. Remember those first years as buck privates in Camp R-B? They went off in marshall order because now that we have completed our training we can give a grand salute to the incoming rookies and tell them not to mind being in the guard house or on K.P. duty, occasionally, we didn't mind it. Who will ever forget that first year when we knew little of the general's tactics? we took Aubrey Fanning as our Private, First Class, with M. Baker, A. Marsh, and W. Killens serving him as able bodied assistants. 1939-1940. Then came our second year when we began to appear brighter for all the drilling. With Jeanne Penney in command of the corporals and T. Rottunno, E. Turner, and B. Hill cheering us on how could we help but get ourselves worked into a lather for that third ordeal that was really child's play. And how could we ever forget this year! War in Europe. British refugees arriving with renewed hope. Two of them enter R-B. Aubrey Fanning - Margaret Eriksson Richard King -- Karl Franson -- Vice-President - - ..... - -Secretary - ..... Treasurer - - - - President THE ROUSE

of NINET No it isn't a beautycontestg it's the Junior- Going my way, Gloria? Senior promenade. 1940-1941. Bombs are falling in London again . . . the selective service . . . our young men leaving for camp or home on furlough. Jim Lyle, that ole Southern Colonel was the drivin'est officer! How we surprised everyone when we made a record Junior Play ticket sales such as has never been topped before or since. P. Jansen, S. Neumayer, and K. Franson made mighty hard-bailed sergeants but we needed them. 1941-1942. Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor. United States at war! Some of our classmates volunteer their services . . . defense workers . . . tire rationing . . . General MacArthur . . . sugar cords. But amidst it all, at last we're being comrnissionedl We're giving many leaders to the world's forces, not actual armed leaders, but strong fighting strength that is necessary in times like these. K. Franson, A. Fanning, M. Eriksson, and R. King were chosen by us to add the finishing touches in our successful careers. Burt Krueger served as head of the student body and together we rnade what we think is a most remarkable record. Taps have been blown so we leave this review on the annals to be praised by the remaining armies passing through R-B. , EEN FORTY TWO Page Twenty-five
