At the barn we began working on our float with the theme Juniors Flying High but again we finished last. What else is new? Nadine Spacek and Douglass Cirruzzo were King and Queen. Our class co-sponsored a Holiday Dance which was more promising than the Valentine's Dance and again the results were favorable. Our team once again won the G.O. Basketball Tournament with the help of Mr. Hoyt and Keith Jefferson. If we win again this year the class of '83 will have the only team to win three consecutive championships in the history of the Tourna- ment. Elections for senior officers were held in May and once again Andrea Scherzer was elected president. Craig Hughes became our vice-president, Risa Anker our secretary and our treasurer, Cheryl Walsh. 16

Mr. Norris volunteered to be our advisor until we could find another one. He organized a ring committee of eleven members with Chris Worthington as chairperson and a Valentine's Dance in which the class made about a $100 profit. Our class colors, red and white, had been assigned to us for the G.O. Basketball Tournament. Mr. Norris coached our team to victory. May 1981 was a busy time for the class of '83. Elections were approaching, and we were having a Pancake Breakfast. However, the outcome of the Breakfast was not as promising as we had anticipated. Our elections were held and Andrea Scherzer was re-elected as president, and newly elected officers were, vice-president Jackie Brown, secretary Cheryl Blasko, and treasurer Danny Nielsen. When we returned in September as Juniors, again we were without an advisor. Mr. Hoyt soon filled this posi- tion. We also received our class rings this month. 15

As school began so did our magazine drive and our tradition of being without an advisor the first day of school. Our magazine drive went well, with our class putting close to $5,000 in the bank. Top sellers were Cheryl Blasko, Mike Lao, and Chris Worthington. We still had the problem of no advisor, however, the problem was solved with sud- den appearance of Mrs. Mommy” Moses and Mrs. Aunt Mary Brown. Things were beginning to look up. We started working on our float, which was a tribute to the class with the theme “Caps off to '83,” and all seniors hoped for first place. It appeared that we had won first, but due to a mathematical error, we had to settle for second place, at least it was not last. However, cheers soon ceas- ed after the back board gave way and Diane McCabe, Cheryl Walsh, Paul Wulforst, Lisa Wedel, Cheryl Blasko, and Dore VanSlyke went tumbling onto the parking lot. The news review entitled our float Doomed. That night we co-sponsored the Homecoming Dance with Student Government.
