GAIL CATHRYN EDWARDS JOANNE ERICKSON Gail Edwards has been an active member of the choir all four years. “Gee” plans to enter the business world. Joanne Erickson, we called her “Jay.” Her activities include French Club, S.A.C., and Band for three years. As a Senior she was a member of Honor Society and Year- book staff. Jay intends to go into ministerial work. Carleen Fagan, who wants to go into the field of fashion and illustration design, won fourth place in the Fire Prevention Poster contest in her sophomore year. She participated in Archery and worked on the Halloween Wall that earned our class first prize for the fourth year. Walter Figurny loves cars and enjoys racing them. He is undecided about his career but, he does plan to attend college. Fern Fisher, since her transfer here from Springfield Gardens High School, has been the Vice President of the Senior Class and a member of both the Curriculum Committee and the Student Action Com- mittee. Besides being the Secretary of the Zenger Press, she was a Varsity Cheerleader and a valuable part of the Black Ensemble and the Yearbook. She has received such high honors as a Letter of Commendation from the National Achievement Scholarship Association, a mem- bership in the National Honor Society, the D.A.R. Good Citizen Award and Magna Cum Laude. A friendly and outgoing girl, she will succeed in the field of secondary education. T. Charles Fleischman, was known as “Chip.” He was a three year member of German Club. As a senior he was the Yearbook Staff Photographer, on the Bowling team, and a Regents Schol- arship Alternate. Chip intends to go into Professional Photography. Gregory Flippen, better known as “Flip, was active in Choir for two years. However, he will be remembered for his athletic ability in Track, Wrestling and Cross Country. He was League Champ for four years, N. Y. State and County Champ for three years, Eastern States Champ, and National Junior Champ. He set the N. Y. State Record in Long Jump of 25 ft. As a sophomore he was rated third in the U.S. for Schoolboys and Field Team. Naturally, Greg intends to pursue a career in physical ed. COLEEN I. FAGAN WALTER FIGURNY FERN ALISON FISHER T. John Doroski has become our class valedictorian. Along with his academic ability, John has been adept in J.V. and Varsity Baseball for three years, in Chemistry Club as a freshman, and in Latin Club and the Math team. John’s awards include Rensseaer Math and Science Award, Empire Boys’ State, and he is a member of the National Honor Society. He intends to go on into engineering. Always interested in helping others, Weenie” Dowbusz hopes to pursue a career in special education and is an active volunteer worker for the mentally retarded and Headstart. She was a Yearbook staff member and Feature Editor of the newspaper. Choir, French Club, Pep Club, dance and Halloween Decorations Committees and the school play are among her other activities. Debbie Dresher is an outgoing girl who loves animals, especially German Shepherds and horses. Debbie, who was secretary and treasurer of the Latin Club, has also been active in Pep Club, Band, Orchestra, Tennis, Yearbook, and various dance com- mittees. She wants to become a plastic surgeon?!! James Drevas, frequently called Jimmy, is a quiet guy, but once you get to know him, he is a real great friend. Vice-President of our Soph omore Class, Cris Drews has been an active participant in many school activities. These activi- ties include: Curriculum Committee, S.A.C., Choir, Color Guard, Assistant Editor of the news- paper and Latin Club of which she was President for one year. Among her honors were: win- ner of the U.N. Essay Contest, Paragon Oil Student Incentive Award, Regents Scholarship Winner and a member of the National Honor Society. CHARLES FLOEGE Charles Floege was one of the few quiet people in Senior Study Halls. Debbie Folk partici- pated in Volleyball, Badminton, Golf, and Hockey. She was a member of the Library Club, G.L.C., and on the Halloween Wall Committee. She won second place in the Blood Drive Post- er Contest in her Senior year. Her future aspiration is to become a horsewoman. Rose Marie Fontana was known to us as “Roe.” She was active in Library Club and Choir for three years. Her Senior year was spent in the Vocational School. Roe intends to travel extensively in fu- ture years. Surfing is more than just a sport to Joe Fuchs, it is a way of life. A member of the Eastern Surfing Association, “Surfski” was rated number four surfer of districts number one, two, and three in 1970, which includes most of the East Coast of the U.S. He hunts, fishes, hikes, camps, and lives free as the wind. He wishes to become a doctor of Oceanography. Tom Gabrielsen transferred from Calhoun H.S. in Merrick. Tom spent his senior year in the Voca- tional School and intends to go into building construction. Janet Gaines was a quiet girl know to us as “Ann.” Lorraine Theresa Galante, known better as “Rainy,” was a member of Latin Club as a freshman and plans to pursue a career in elementary education.
