fU Foreword Many centuries ago a new civilization was founded, based on the principles of liberty and freedom. This culture after much turmoil and great strife grew to be the Roman Empire. The Romans of yesteryear had many admirable qualities. These attributes included wisdom, honesty and courage. We students of today hope to carry these outstanding characteristics with us after our high school years. It is every student's obligation to maintain the high standards first set up by the Romans. We of the class of 1967 have achieved many goals because of the examples of the Romans. We can because we think we can is a phrase which aptly describes our years of work and participation in this school. Hard work and diligent effort went into making our high school years meaningful ones. Inspired by the ideals and principles practiced by the Romans, we only hope to follow in their footsteps in the coming years. ■ • .. . - • U 5

Fame and recognition have many fol- lowers; service and unselfish devotion but few. And even fewer are those who can honestly claim to be true scholars. For twenty- three years Mr. Morris Diamond has been a beloved member of the faculty of Riverhead High School and has carved a niche for him- self in the annals of our school. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1933 from the College of the City of New York and later earned his Master of Science degree from the same college. Although he is qualified to teach other subjects, Latin is his favorite. He is also a classical studies assistant to the New York State Regent's commission. His animated manner and never-failing in- terest in persons and ideas plus his extra- ordinary fund of knowledge are some of the qualities that distinguish him from other people. He is truly a man dedicated to his profession and his students. Therefore, we the Class of 1967 proudly dedicate our year- book to Mr. Morris Diamond. b
