EX-LIBIRIS BLUE PECONIC 3 RIVERHEAD HIGH SCHOOL RIVERHEAD, NEW YORK FOREWORD A school—an empty building—has no function or purpose until people become a part of it. Then the building comes alive with those striving for knowledge. Accumulating knowledge is not a haphazard game of “Catch as Catch can”. It is a definite part of the goals which each student has set for himself. To attain these goals is to build upon a founda- tion, each day accomplishing more. In this respect, the achievement of our aims resem- bles a stairway, for each step must l)e con- quered individually. We, the seniors of Riverhead High School, have climbed only one flight of our “Stairway to Success.” Now, we must face the real test of a world clouded with strife, yet not without shining rays of hope. In order to be worthy of the responsibility which has been given to us, we must quicken our pace and aspire to still greater heights. There are many stairs waiting to he climbed before we reach our ulti- mate goal—success. Because life does so resemble a stairway, we, the Class of 1966, have chosen “stairs” as the theme of our yearbook. 5 10 12 TABLE OF CONTENTS Faculty 15, Seniors 27, Classes 79, Sports 95, Activities 115, Curriculum 137. One of the most beloved members of our Faculty graduated from Riverhead High School in 1938. Following high school, he attended Ithaca College and received his Bachelor’s Degree in 1942. Answering the call of his country, he entered the serv- ice in 1942 and served as an Army Cap- tain in the European Theatre until 1946. He then went back to Ithaca College where he taught for a year and received his Mas- ter’s Degree. From 1947 until 1950 he was on the faculty of Hobart College. But on February 28, 1951, he joined the staff of Riverhead High School. In September of 1952 he was made Director of Physical Education. His leadership through thick and thin has always proved steadfast. It is with gratitude for all your time and effort that the class of 1966 dedicates our year- book to you— Mr. Michael J.
