MacDonald, learn to blend their voices in perfect harmony while being taught to appreciate good music. Their singing experiences include both religious and light music. Among the selections which were sung this year are: THE LORD’S PRAYER, THE SLEIGH, and THE HOLY CITY. 17 Row 1—B. Murphy, T. Zubina, E. Hall, K. Terry, A. Batchelder, B. Tyte, M. Goldman, J. THE The band is one of the largest contributing groups in our school. After you have studied in band for only a short time, you appreciate the value of group effort. As Mr. Hovey says, “This group can be only as good as you, the individual, make it.” Wayne Curven was voted by the band mem- bers to serve as manager. This duty he has car- ried out faithfully throughout the year. In the fall, some of the members were chosen to represent our school in the NYSSMA state and sectional bands. The band attended and par- ticipated in all the home football games, and two out-of-town games. They played for three 18 Demidovich, F. Painter, R. Roach, R. McKay, J. Morell, R. Horton, F. McKay, O. They gave two assembly programs this year and ap- peared willingly at many other chapel programs. Every week, certain members of the organization practice together in small groups known as en- sembles. These small groups also appear at various community functions. In the spring, the band does two things of special merit. One is the annual concert, the other the contest, which is usually held in some other school. In the latter, many students represent our school as perform- ers in solos or ensembles. 19 Row 1—J. Zaloga, J. Been, J. Zak, E. Demkin, E. Hall, J. Nedosik, J. Dormand, G. Zaloga, M. Harris, C. Fraser As many of its members will tell you, French Club is not “all work and no play.” Although learning the language is the chief purpose of the club, the members engage in other activities. These include an as- sembly program presented in French, a Christmas party, and a picnic at the end of the year. In each of these activities, the use of the French language is stressed in some way. 23 THE LATIN CLUB Row 1—G. Weiss, S. Roosa, J. Zambriski, J. Pawlikow- ski, G. Zaloga, E. Harrison, J. Diamond, H. They observed the usual sorrow at the anniversary of their hero’s passing on the Ides of March. Pictures were taken by a foreign correspondent from the New York Daily News. A production, in full costume, of the Catilinarian Conspiracy was put on for the benefit of the student body on March 31. 24 THE PRESS CLUB Sitting—L. Luce, B. Koscuisko, R. Trutner. Standing—V. One meeting is a business meeting, and one recreational. Members run the consession at football games and sell Christmas cards. The father and son banquet, which has become an an- nual event, provides fun for everyone. 29 MOVIE PROJECTIONISTS Front—E. Booker, C. Dabrowski. Back—T. Jarzombeck, A. Ruskowski, R. This privilege is guaranteed by the generosity of those boys who so willingly give up their study halls to run the equipment. We cer- tainly owe them a debt of thanks. 30 THE YEARBOOK STAFF EDITOR-IN-CHIEF....... ...................... Sonja Severdija BUSINESS MANAGER................. The record accumulated by this team speaks for itself, but it becomes quite amazing when you consider the fact that Riverhead’s football team was not even thought of as a contender. 37 THE STARTING ELEVEN Riverhead tied with Amityville for the Big Ten Championship. In the playoff, Riverhead scored 21 to Amityville’s 14. The new County Champs—Riverhead High. They won 7, lost 1, and tied 0. We certainly have something to be proud of. Scores R.H.S.
