Football The Blue Wave captamed by William Barnes had a successful season this year winning four out of five games This was accompllshed primarily through the efforts of coach Johnson and the vrgorous tralning program instigated under his leadershxp The Blue 11 ran up their first victory of the season against a tough hard hitting Greenport team Riverhead s one and only tally was made by Booker Hattrick converted Final score RHS 7 GHS 0 Seton Hall was the next victim to fall to the Blue Wave Booker scored thrice and Little jim Underwood once Hattrick converted twrce Final score R H S 26 Visitors 13 The boys in blue next came up against Sag Harbor Captain Barnes made two 55 yard runs to pay dirt and converted twice Underwood scored twice also once on a 35 yard run and once on a Hattrick to Underwood pass Soyars and Mason both threw touchdown passes to end Palmer Booker not to be outdone legged the pigskm 15 yards for another TD Final score R H S 44 Visitors 6 game At the end of the half the Blue Wave s only tally was a spectacular 85 yard run by Booker The score was Westhampson 7 Riverhead 6 No additional scoring was made in the third quarter Then Barney Barnes crashed over in the fourth to put RHS in the lead But a few minutes later Barnes returned a WH S punt 70 yards for another TD Barnes also converted The last R H S score came when center john Talmage intercepted a pass and lugged the pigskin 45 yards for a closing TD Final score R H S 25 W H S 7 It must also be added that Frank I can tackle higher than you can Rogers made a first team position in place of Roman White who enlisted in the Army The traditional game with Southampton was held on their gridiron Neither team havmg lost a game the championship was at stake Zaweskr scored on a pass from Under wood in the first half Underwood and Rogers sustained rnluries so that they were out almost all of the second half Riverhead bowed in defeat after playing a gruellng game In the second half Barnes scored and converted Fmal score R HS 15 S H S 19 40 , . . . , . , . . , t, . . 1 . , O .
