Many of the world's leaders stand in reverent silence at the grave: President de Gaulle of France, center, with Emporer Haille Selassie of Ethiopia beside him, newly-elected Chancellor Erhard of West Germany behind Emporer Selassie, and scores of other dignitaries from all over the world. 2. A horse-drawn cais son carrying the flag-draped casket of the late President moves out of the Capitol plaza enroute to St. Matthews Cathedral for funeral services . 3 . Mrs . Kennedy, three-year- old John, Jr. and six-year-old Caroline standing at the White House entrance on Sunday before joining the procession in which the President's body was borne from the Executive Mansion to the Capitol 4 . An officer gives the final salute to the casket. The eternal light was lighted during the ceremony. 5 . With her daughter Caroline kneeling by her side, Mrs . John F. Kennedy kisses the casket of her husband in the rotunda of the U. S. Capitol 6. Lyndon Baines Johnson is sworn in as President of the UnitedStates ofAmerica in the cabin of the presidential plane as.Mrs. Jacqueline Kennedy stands at his side. Judge Sarah T. Hughes administers the oath of office. In the back- ground are: Jack Valenti, administrative assistant to Johnson: Rep. Albert Thomas, D-Tex., Mrs. Johnson: and Rep. Jack Brooks, D-Tex. He has been taken to a hospital there. We shall keep you informed if there is further announcement as to his condition. Within a few minutes the radio was making the announcement over the intercom and giving the details of the President's death. The students and faculty alike were stunned and shocked by the terrible news. It seemedimpossible that such a thing could happen in their United States. There was no school on Monday, as the nation attended the funeral via television. In fact, all commercial programs and advertising were cancelled immediately with the announcement of the assassi- nation and the whole nation literally mourned together as they watched the proceedings of those four days. Over sixty men, among them eight returning lettermen, reported for the starting practice session on August 16. Even the weather did not cooperate-- as the stiffling heat of summer changed to the bitter chill of fall almost overnight. The coaches, players, and spectators will never forget the thrilling game with Mohawk on November 8. It was the last game of the season for both teams and the Warriors of Mohawk were boasting of winning. The game could not end in a tie if the Falcons were to place third in the league--it had to be a clear cut victory. It was six to six through the last quarter. Finally we carried the pigskin within field goal range. Was a field goalpossible? Mr. Watson sent Roger Bell in for the sole purpose of splitting the uprights with a field goal. All was hushed and tense, both on the bench and in the stands, with all fingers crossed. The ball came from center: up came Roger. . .Oh no! It hit the left side of the uprights. lust two mere inches and the whole game could have turned from a tie into an overwhelming victory. Iust think of it! Great things are expected from Dennis. 42 Cross country is a minor sport held in the fall. It is a type of track event where the boys run approximately two miles over land. It takes a great deal of rigorous training to to make a good cross country runner, and this year Riverdale has produced a fine team of boys . Iim Shane and Terry Huffman were especially outstanding. Iim came in second in the district meet and Terry Huffman led the teain to the finish line many times.
