RACHEL EDIE High school teachers have a great task for they are not only teachers, but also counselors for youth. Youth have many problems and their teachers have much influence on their future lives. The seniors wish to dedicate this annual to Mrs. Rachel Edie who they feel has all the qualities of a good high school teacher. She was the seniors' first homeroom teacher when as sev- enth graders they joined the upperclassmen on the top floor. They have known her not only as a teacher, but also as a counselor and friend. The girls especially appreciated her wise guidance in physical education and the seniors are very grateful for her direction of the senior play. XX N. Blanchard high school girls have again shown their interest in vocal music by becoming members of the Girls' Chorus this year. The group worked hard learning songs for chapel programs, contest, the County Music Festival, and for pure pleasure. Some of the songs we enjoyed singing were NTeach Me to Pray,n HOklahoma,W WSet Down Servant,N NRollin' Down to Jordan,n nBlessed Saviour,n and nHappy Farmer.n The County Music Festival, which was held in February at Arlington, was a big success. A number of girls entered the music auditions which were held at McComb in the early spring. But the girls feel that the biggest and best accomplishment of the year was the high school operetta, which was successfully produced in the late spring. nLet us serve your banking needsn With courtesy of TH WHARTON BANK Wharton, Ohio THE ARLINGTON ELEVATOR Q SUPPLY CO. It is as follows: I believe in the future of farming, with a faith born not of words but of deeds-- achievements won by the present and past generations of farmers, in the promise of better days through better ways, even as the better things we now enjoy have come up to us from the struggles of former years. I believe that to live and work on a good farm is pleasant as well as challenging, for I know the joys and discomforts of farm life and hold an inborn fondness for those associations which, even in hours of discouragement, I can not deny. I believe in leadership from ourselves and respect from others. I believe in my own ability to work efficiently and think clearly, with such knowledge and skill as I can secure, and in the ability of organized farmers to serveour'ownand the public interest in marketing the product of our toil. I believe we can safeguard those rights against practices and policies that are unfair. I believe in less dependence on begging and more power in bargaining, in the life abundant and enough honest wealth to help make it so--for others as well as myself, in less need for charity and more of it when needed, in being happy myself and play- ing square with those whose happiness depends upon me. I believe that rural America can and will hold true to the best traditions in our national life and that I can exert an influence in my home and community which will stand solid for m part in that inspiring task. The story concerns Cornelia Wellington Heister and her sister, Dorthea. They're wealthy orphans whose only living relatives are a hillbilly family who run a gen- eral store in Lone Mule, Tennessee. Their father's will directs that the girls are to spend their summers in Lone Mule or forfeit their share of the fortune. Being a bit spoiled and accustomed Unluxuries, Cornelia, in particular, hates the arrange- ment. Dorthea, only thirteen, thinks it might be fun. Cyrus Goolus, their uncle, is a miser who sees a chance to make himself some money. He decides to try to chase the girls away and inherit all the fortune himself. He shows the worst of hillbilly living to the girls, but they do not discourage easily. Cornelia dis- covers her uncle's designs on her money and decides two can play at the game. She and Dorthea pretend to go all out for the hillbilly life and even show Cy a thing or two. And what happens to Uncle Cy when they get through with him, shouldn't happen to a dog!
