SENIORS The highlight of our freshman year was our ini- tiation. A class of scarecrows, vampires and sleepy-time people arrived at school to be met by the seniors of ' 59. They decorated us witli burnt cork, lipstick and necklaces of onions, potatoes and carrots. Plans for the Christmas Semi-formal dance began. By our sophomore year we were experienced. Plans for the Thanksgiving hop, The Turkey Trot filled our time and minds. The turkey raffle was won by our surprised sponsor, Mr. Hartung. Planning sessions and practices for The Variety Show of 1960 proved time consuming during and after school. This was our first class production and we were busy with building scenery, sewing costumes and polishing routines. The show was given March 17 and 18 with large crowds both evenings to see the results of our long hours of hard work. We ordered our class rings and sweaters; the sweaters arrived in January. The class rings came in September of our Junior year making us full fledged Juniors. Magazine sales and selling concessions during the ball games and the noon hour filled our time. The presentation of our class play Great Expecta- tions and the Junior-Senior Banquet rounded out our junior year. We gave the seniors of ' 61 a final send-off by being their escort at their commencement. We started our freshman year with 32 members and our senior year with 31 members. We, the Class of ' 62 said good-by to R.H.S. and its good times when we received our diplomas in May, 1962. 25
