Twelve long monotonous years of hard-work and study--or so it had always seemed to us, but new we look back, somewhat regretfully, at those same years with a new and different attitude. ,We think now, not of that so-called hard-study, but rather of the good times we have had together--of the cooperation and the helping spirit of our teachers--of the various opportunities and advantages that have been offered us by Spiceland School. From our first breath-taking year in grade school to our final long-anticipated senior year, we find that ten of us have gone hand in ,hand throughout our school life. These are: Charles Wilson, Boyd Campbell, Martha Jane Gordon, Opal Barrett, Robert Harrold, Louise Livingston, William Copeland, Madelyne Ward, James Myer, and Peggy Mae Huff. Eight years swiftly passed and we eagerly entered our first year of high school Yes, we were frightened somewhat bewildered, per- haps even green as freshmen are always considered but we readily began to aceustem our elves to our new surroundings Gradually our timidity left us, till as sophomores we re able to look down upon the new 'freshiesn with that superior air of upper classmen It was in our sophomore year that quite a few of the boys began to gain recognition and distinction by the basketball fans a dis- tinction that was held throughout the remain- der of their school years Baseball was also actively followed Then all toe rapidly came ouz junior year the year in which we fully realized the . With anxiety and enthusiasm we looked forward to the two out- standing features of that year, the class play, nWorrying Willie,n and the junior and senior trip. They were both successes, but of course, we shall hold the memory of-our trip to the Smoky Mountains as by far our sur passing junior activity As the result of the aid and support of the class of '59, we were able to enjoy and appreciate the thrills of that trip The summer months sped by, and once agaln 'wo found ourselves back in our school routine But new we were the dignified seniors Our hopes as 'Treshies' were realized that long coveted goal had been reached we could new look down knowingly upon all lower classmen We were the superiors by far the wisest But 'Iasl Our dreams have shattered, for with amazement we find we feel the same and act the same as we did when we were mere freshmen! Grown up? D1gnifiedV Superior? No Just the same as we were probably with a little broader knowledge a little taller, but deep down inside welre just the same kidsu still growing up A seniors our class eff1eers are William Foster, president, Madelyne Ward, vice president, Lucille Jarrett, secretary gratitude and appreciation for both our Junior and senior years, is Miss Gastlno Under her direction we presented HJune 1n January, our senlor class play, We chose our class flower the pink carnation and pink and white as our class colors Our motto is HLife is what you make it U Throughout our school years, several students have entered or depalted from our O V ' , S S nl . 0 F T Q I , I Q - I -l O J . 0 I ' I Y :sn -u .
