FRIENDS F OR LIFE Riverdale's chapter of S.A.D.D. had a successful year. Fighting the misconception that drinlsing is okay, so long as the student does not drive proved to be a year-long effort, Rather than to drive the point home by hammering teens with alcohol-consumption informatiion, this group's emphasis was to provide alternatives too chemically-dependent recreation. October's election of officers produced the fol- lowing slate: Amy Covemalser, President, Me- lissa Allison, Vice President, ond Laura Mumma, Sec. !Treas. That same month, the group sent Melissa Allison and Walt Farwell to a weekend- long, state-sponsored, seminar, Prqect Gradu- ation. November was poster month. The Prize -a multi-media presentation pro- moting self-esteem and acceptance, was SADD's early Christmas gift to the student body. A mid winter mixed intramural volleyball league became SADD's boldest initiative to- ward promoting healthy activity with 80 par- ticipants for its first round. The club bought supper for the league's winning team at a pizza party ending the season March 25. The yeor's final activity was assisting the Globe with promoting alcohol-free graduation celebrations for its valued friends in the class of 1986.
