PROGRESS FOR LIBRARY HOT LUNCHES This year there were two major changes made in the combined fields of the library, cooking. bus maintenance andjanitorial work. The high school hired a new librarian, Mrs. Duffy. Mrs. Duffy worked in the library on Mon- days, Wednesdays and Fridays. This freed Miss Spratt, who had been with the Riverdale school district in years past. to assume her other responsibilities as unit librarian on those days. But Mrs. Spratt was at the high school on Tuesdays and Thurs- days. Both Mrs. Duffy and Miss Spratt were capably assisted by Mrs. DeCap. In the other major develop- ment, Mrs. VanDeVoorde took over as the head cook in the mid- dle of the school year. Under her leadership, the quality of the hot lunches made a marked turn for the better and they, as a result. became more popular. The daytime janitor was Mor- ris Bonds. He received a lot of help from kids in the S.W.E.P. program. Other janitors were Joyce Smith and Patricia Ceurvorst. while Bill Nicholson was the building maintenance supervisor. The head of the transportation department was Iona Wigant. and the head bus mechanic was Dan Kennedy. 'OC K9 TOP: Judy Creen. Karen Shrum. Kath- erine Hansen. Lorena Logdson. It is reading the works of famous authors in British Lit. or American Lit. It's playing the part of a reporter and capturing events for the school newspaper, or putting all the events of the year together and laying out a book for the Yearbook class. During the 1977-78 school year Mrs. Knight, head of the English department, was given a grant to fly to Washington D.C. for one week with the Close-Up program. Q
