A Dream Come True As Riverdale's 21st year as a unit school district closed, a long desired goal was about to come true. Construction of the new elementary addition, to house pupils in grades 3 through 6, commenced in mid-July, 1976, and continued on schedule, thus permitting the closing of the Dis- trict's four small, outlying ele- mentary buildings in June, 1977, and the housing, for the first time of all elementary pupils in the Riverdale District at one cen- tral site. The new addition, containing 21 classrooms, an elementary office, vocal music room, a multi-purpose room and stage along with the renovation of the Coe building basement cost about 351.4 million, with the state of Illinois participating with a direct grant equalling nearly 60070 of the costs and the local taxpay- ers, through an approval of a bond referendum in September, 1975 providing the remaining 40070. Dedication of the new facility is scheduled for early September in 1977.
