mm STUDENT LIFE The main streets during our high school years are the academic pursuits, the classes we take, the knowledge we gain through our studies. We choose the sideroads we will travel on — the extracurricu- lar, the friendships, our free time experiences. We choose whether we will be aimless wanderers along these roads or whether we will travel with a purpose. Arrowhead 1982 attempts to capture glimpses of our travels along the main streets and side roads of Ri- verdale. The hope is that we will forever remember our experiences and our fellow travelers along these roads. Their first confer- ence victory over Viroqua in the 17 year history of the rivalry occurred. The talented classes of 83 and 84 will have the tough task of filling the voids left by a fine group of graduating seniors. Numerous weeks of preparation are needed to plan designs and layouts before the actual producing begins and then many months are taken to produce it. First of all, I wish to say a big thank you to a very special person and leader, our advisor, Ms. Helen Krause, who stood by me in thick and thin and who was there when I needed her. In the photography scene, I thank Ron Thomas for the color picture for the cover; Bob Thomas for color pictures in the book; Jeff Willig for the road pictures; and the following active Photo Club members who worked so diligently in providing the needed pictures for the book: Jeannette Scott, Jill Hardy, Angela Jones, Tammy Cannoy, Kip Schreck, and to Robby Anderson who came up with many last min- ute pictures. An additional thanks goes to Mr. Robert Anderson for keeping his cool and control in the picture processing. Thanks to Wendell Smith for the use of some of his sports pictures and to Lou Coopey for taking super group pictures. My appreciation goes to any other Photo Club member who contributed but whom I neglected to mention. Thanks to Mr. Godfrey who helped us with the introduction and quotes; Mr. McKenna for help with the quotes and for putting up with us in the library; Rosie Olson for use of her typewriter and the AV room; all of the coaches for their write-ups on the sports seasons; and to the teachers who dedicatedly filled out activity sheets and put up with our interruptions without complaint. Next I wish to thank Kris Farness for her extra special help. It was greatly appreciated and needed. Thank you, Yearbook Staff. We did it with your help! Ones who deserve credit and thanks are Cindy Faga and Becky Craig who put in extra time on Formatt lettering; Hartzell Phetteplace for the extra time on the map; Debbie Walsh, Lorna Baumann, Theresa Pechan, Scott Taylor, Lynn Baumann, John Pechan and Susan Patch; and a special thanks to Darla Heise, our typist, who put in so much time with so little complaining. I cannot thank each of you on Yearbook Staff enough. I may not have showed my apprecia- tion often enough but I hope you realize that I really did appreciate and am grateful for all of your extra after school hours. To everyone else who made contributions to this year's book, even if I might have neglected to mention your names, thank you sincerely. In Deepest Appreciation, Judy Schreck, Editor 117 I expect to pass through the world but once. Any good therefore that I can do, or any kindness that I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now ... for I shall not pass this way again. Unknown i ARROWHEAD 1982 attempted to capture our journey along the Main Streets and Side Roads of the past year. Each of us have special feelings, both positive and negative about this trip. In some ways, the roads were made rougher by the state of the economy and the tough winter of 82, along with those personal crises we all must deal with on our path to maturity. Hopefully, however, the rough spots were smoothed by the caring and concern of our friends and those people we met along the way. Hopefully, too, as we look back through these pages in the years ahead and voyage we undertook, we will have mostly fond memories. The Road of Life For the graduating class of 1982, they leave forever these Main Streets and Side Roads , to continue their own special and unique journeys through life. They have left their mark on us; they have helped us grow, and we sincerely hope that the rest of their lives will be a smooth and pleasant journey for them, and that they will be readily able to handle the rough spots. To them, we fondly say £ INDEX FRESHMEN 00? Aide. ,7. 7, 34, 48, 50._ -E Arb gustf L. 7, 48. .jjr M Armstrong, M. 9, 48, 68.
