Riverdale High School Muscoda, Wisconsin 1976-1977 A change of here, to feed a thought to find craving mind. the curious Anonymous This year the Pleiades would like to dedicate a page to Mr. Phillip Eaton. Mr. Eaton has served Riverdale for nineteen years as a band and chorus director. Within those nineteen years, he directed the band to only three seconds, all the rest were firsts', at the Annual Dis- trict Band Contest. He also constructed the Madrigal and Swing Choir, which also proved to be successful. We would like to sincerely thank Mr. Eaton for his serv- ices to Riverdale, and hope that his new beginning is a happy one! We thought that love could never change. Robert Bridges It is completely unimportant — That is why it is so interesting. Agatha Christie Yes it hurts when buds burst. Why otherwise would spring hesitate? Why otherwise was ail warmth and longing locked under pale and bitter ice? The blind bud covered and numb all winter, what fever for the new com pel Is it to burst? Yes it hurts when buds burst, there is pain when something grows and when something must close. Then, when it is worst and nothing helps, they burst, as if in ecstasy, the first buds of the tree, when fear itself is compelled to let go, they fall in a glistening veil, all the drops from the twigs, blinking away their fears of the new, shutting out their doubts about the journey, feeling for an instant how this is their greatest safety, to trust in that daring that shapes the world. Karin Boye The world is full of mostly invisible things, And there is no way but putting the mind's eye, Or its nose, in a book, to find them out, Things like the square root of Everest Or how many times Byron goes into Texas, Or whether the law of the excluded middle Applies west of the Rockies. For these And the like reasons, you have to go to school And study books and listen to what you are told. 8 And sometimes try to remember. Though I don't know What you will do with the mean annual rainfall On Plato's Republic, or the calorie content Of the Diet of Worms, such things are said to be Good for you, and you will have to leam them In order to become one of the grown-ups Who sees invisible things neither steadily nor whole. But keeps gravely the grand confusion of the world Under his hat, which is where it belongs, And teaches small children to do this In there turn. A white and blue atmosphere engulfed the dance, while the rock group Cross- fire played the theme song Feel- ings as King, Donnie Ramsden and Queen, Mina Dieter led the grand march, after Mr. Charles Gray an- nounced the anticipated outcome of the couple chosen to reign over the evening. 22 More Than Feelings” If You HOMECOMING COURT: Perry Wilkinson, Colleen Pechan; Lani Isenhart, Ron Watson; Bruce Troxel, Cindy Isenhart; Carla Thomas, Harold Freymiller; Shrie Adams, Tom Hardy; 1975 King, Rod Pasold, 1975 Queen, Karen Nankee; 1976 King, Greg Wilkinson, 1976 Queen, Marianne Schreck. 24 Leave Me Now” Homecoming got underway on Thursday night with a rousing bonfire, snake dance, and skits won by the adventurous fresh- man. We do a service pro- ject each year, fund raising activities for State Con- ference. We also have a Christmas party and parti- cipate in the regional conference in competition. What are the requirements to be in FBLA? You must have one semester of credit in a business course. Is FBLA a profit organization, and if so, what do you use the money for? Yes. We use the money to go to the State Leadership Conference at Green Lake in March. We compete in typing, shorthand, bookkeep- ing, clerical, public speaking, and basic business. For each year an editor stamps on the paper a new personality, as I did and next years editor will do. I wish to see the staff work more as a team. I wish to see the work of getting out our six monthly issues become much less of a have-to-do-it hassle to become much more of a professional training institute for aspiring journalists I hope to see more professionalism, more sense of responsibility to self and the school. Yes, for the TEPEE TALK there will also be a new beginning. Tepee Talk 55 Like most clubs, FHA, or officially known as Future Homemakers of America has ma- ny goals and purposes. This year our pur- poses were met and our goals were strived for. Throughout the year, FHA has partici- pated in various activities such as initiation, selling Stanley products, collecting for UNICEF, attending the FHA convention at Green Lake and adopting a grandparent from the Riverdale Manor. ’ FUTURE HOMEMAKERS OF AMERICA. The Riverdale Drama Club is an organization made up of members from all classes in Riverdale High School. Its members participate in the production of plays and musi- cals selected by committees and advisors of the group. Students are given the opportunity to participate in acting, directing, set building, costuming and staging productions in the fall and again in the spring of the year. The spring production in 1976 was the musical, The Highwayman, based on John Gay's classic play, The Beggar's Opera. Its 18th Century costuming and delightful songs made it a highly entertaining play. The fall production of the Drama Club was a courtroom drama entitled The Night of Jan- uary 16th. This was a three act play describing the trial of a young woman accused of murder. A jury was selected from the audience who decided on her guilty or innocence which determined the end of the play.
