SCHOOL BOARD We Thank You! The former and present students of River Valley would like to take this opportunity to thank those citizens in our community who have given of their time and talent to serve as members of the River Valley School Board. Often times yours may seem to be a thankless job. You hear complaints from all sides. But, we would like you to know that your dedication and effort has truly paid off through the years as River Valley students have gone from here and become very successful in the outside world. The first two years that River Valley existed, we operated in the three old high schools and numerous grade schools. The present high school was opened for the 1962-1963 school year for grades 9-12. The present junior high school was opened for the 1969-70 school year for grades 7-9 leaving the high school for grades 10-12. The original school board was made up of people who had a vision - Roy Anding, Nordeen Gilbertson, Kenneth Hottmann, Helen Martin, Myron Moore, Charles Roberts, and Walter Urfer. Our present school board - Richard Baker, Ronald Drachenberg, Reed Horton, Daniel Patenaude, Jane Peckham, Edward Porter, Ralph Ruhland, Helen Silko, and Beatrice Smith - has a still broader vision as they work hard to keep pace with the educational and technological advances of today's society. In the 26 years that River Valley has existed, only 32 different people have served the nine main areas of our school district.
