In each of the four years in the Industrial Arts curriculum, certain projects are required of every student. The freshmen deal mostly with handwork. The sophomores work chiefly with mechanical drawing and develop house plans. The juniors learn machine operation and work with sheet metal. The seniors deal with welding and electricity. MATH The Mathematics Depart- ment offers a wide selection of courses for the high school student. Algebra I, Algebra II, General Math, Geometry, Senior Mathematics, and Advanced Mathematics are the subjects offered in the math curriculum. A new approach is being presented to the accelerated algebra class, using the most modern methods of Algebra. The new process resembles geometry in its basic function INDUSTRIAL ARTS

HOME ECONOMICS The study of Homemaking includes many aspects of family life. It includes planning of nutritious meals for the family to build health, the care of children during their preschool years, care of the sick in the home, housing and home furnishings, safety in the home, career for girls, marriage, etiquette, teen-age relations, care and repair of clothing, and budgeting. It takes four years of study to cover all these phases with different areas of clothing con- struction and food preparation each year. SOCIAL STUDIES Social Studies 9, Social Problems, Economics, Geography, World History and United States History are the six subjects offered in the Social Studies Department. Students are taught the history of the United States and her relations with foreign nations. They are also given the opportunity to understand present-day problems and learn the role they will play in helping to solve them. 17
