OUR CURRICULUM INCLUDES ART The art program in River Valley High School gives the students an opportunity for creative expression. Students are encouraged to work in- dependently in order to develop creative ability. The program con- sists of projects in drawing and sketch- ing with pencils, charcoal, pen and ink; painting with watercolor, tempera, and oil; lettering and poster making; designing with paper, modeling with clay, paper mache', and wire; and the development of an appreciation for the beauty all around us. This syllabus contains a program of art expression which will serve in making sensitive, perspective, and worthy citizens. FOREIGN LANGUAGE — GERMAN River Valley High School presently offers to its students an extremely adequate language laboratory. The students in the advanced German class undoubtedly remember the difficulty in acquiring the exact pronounciation that so often encumbered them in the old schools. So this year, having the advantage of tapes adapted with excellent speakers and booths, the class of 23 students is furthering itself in translation and advanced speech. First year German classes are also finding it very easy to adopt the German language. Slide films and occasional recorded songs and stories in the foreign language add enjoyment to the class work. Oral reports of interest to the entire class and skits worked out by the 31 students help broaden their knowledge of Germany's culture - socially, politically, and literally. 13
