Prophecy June 1. 1967. Dear Diary I have just returned from a brief visit to Caledonia to see what my old classmates were doing. when I drove through the town I noticed a great change. A new Murphy's store had been added. I parked my 1928 Ford on the square and went in. Wnom did I see behind the snack bar, but LEONA BELT, She liked working behind a counter so well that she just hated to quit. If she gets married she can't work any longer, so Leona is still single. Leona told me our old classmate, VIRGIL HILDRETH is now President of the new Ford plant. This is easy to understand because Virgil just loved tearing apart and putting together Fords. I had just about finished drinking my coke when BOB DETWILER walked in. Bob told me he had just returned from a very interesting trip to England where his Donia Professional Basketball Team performed for the Queen. As I was leaving, someone called to me. when I turned, I saw JANET PERRY working behind the toy counter asthe balloon blower. She's finally getting some use out of that hot air. I left Murphy's and started back to my car when I decided to go into the post office. when I got inside I found that PAT LANDES now runs the post office. She told me that since she was up there most of the time she decided to get a job. In this situation she was in a position to know what went on in Caledonia, and she did. I didn't need to go any farther. She told me that: MARILYN UNDERWOOD is the head of a modeling firm out of New York. She finally put that strut to some advantage. REBECCA SCHEIFLER is now 28 and still trying desperately to get enrolled in one of the colleges of the nation. I knew she'd never make it. JANET BENGE is now in charge of the Caledonia City Library and its millions of books. DORIS WALKER is secretary for her husband who is in the contracting business. She can sit on his lap instead of someone else. MARILYN SULLIVAN is head of the Atnletic Department at Caldonia since Mr. Hamric's retirement. I guess it got to be too much for George. DARLENE COCHRAN is in business with her sister-in-law. They own and operate the world-renowned Blashinsky Dance Studios. INEZ GIST-well , Inez is still loafing at home. I guess she was just too lazy to start out on her own. BARBARA HILDRETH lives in Columbus where she is secretary to the Governor of Ohio. A11 those letters she wrote in school finally paid off. As I left the post office, whom did l see but HAROLD LYON driving by in his gold Cadillac. He had just returned from the West Coast where he made his latest movie, Calling All Girls . This has been a very exciting day but not nearly as exciting as tomorrow will be. Yes, tomorrow is the big day in my life. It has actually happened. Tomorrow I start co-starring on CBS-TV with none other than 'MY BOY ELVIS , Don't you envy mel Il Goodnight Katie McKinstry 13
