June Senior Histor What a Llfe The largest healthrest most mtelltgent group of students dest1ned to become one of the most powerful forces that ever passed through Rouge H1gh entered the1r home rooms rn September 1938 CThere Ive sard t Now untle mel We had frve drfferent sponsors CWe werent really that badll Mr George Shawley and Mrss Anne Parks were our frrst sponsors We elected Dot Mclrlaney as our fresh man presldent Under her and the sponsors d1rect1on we gave a dance earned a lrttle money gave 1t to the treasurer and lost a ltttle money Now because Geneva was our treasurer dont thrnk Im 1ns1nuat1ng that she IS drshonest I couldnt say that not whrle shes got that gun rn my back Serlously though Geneva was our treasurer for all of our hrstory mak1ng years rn hlgh school That proves that she s the most hon est person 1n the class When we passed those of us who d1d we moved mto new homerooms We chose I-Iarold Glebel to lead us through our sopho more year and he d1d a ftne 1ob of lt The sophomores had a closed party that year and d1d We enloy 1tl In the frrst part of our yunror year the classes began to graduate IH Ianuary as well as Iune so our class was gtven a new parr of sponsors Mtss Mary Iohnson and Mr Dan1el Webb Then uslng mature clear yudgment the tumors elected that handsome dashrng rntelltgent youth B111 Delezenne as the1r presrdent lEd1tors note Delezenne wrote thrsl Everybody thought he was a frne presrdent that s why he wasnt elected the next year The Iune class of 42 d1splayed the1r frnan c1al genlus when rt gave a dance whrch was probably the only profltable one glven that year Then came the I Chop fChop Chop Chopll We decorated the gym as a Chl nese chop suey shop The programs were made as Chlnese scrolls and the lrghts were made up as Chrnese lanterns In the fall of our senlor year Mrss Iohnson our second woman sponsor went to teach 1n Ann Arbor and I know I speak for every one rn the class when I say we were sorry to see her go Mrss Eunlce Brake was Cho sen to lead us through our frnal phases of school lrfe Fred Brlak the tall dark and handsome 'ad of the class took the honor of p1lot1ng us through our last year 1n hrgh school By th1s ttme we held the controlltng lnter est rn practlcally every actrvrty 1n the school I-Ialf of the band was made up of Iune 42 s Larry Lrkeable Kramer was 1ts presldent and we are proud to say that he was a mem ber of our class The captarn of the basket ball team Lester Sharon halls from our gang You all know Les that handsome lad who we all rate as the best defenstve player 1n Mrchrgan COkay Les there rt IS Now pay me the quarterll And that lsnt all We placed several others on the Panther qumtet We had a good percentage of the fellows on the football baseball track and tennrs teams Over half of the Recorder staff con srsted of our comrades We overran all the clubs and also had a number of people 1D the Glee Clubs fBusy httle bees werent Well lnc1dentally our power and rmportance were recogn1zed when we were IZB s We moved rnto 313 and forced the IZA s off to the Slde 346 Then came the drnner dance a qulet lrttle affa1r at the Fort Shelby I-Iotel Of course the Ianuary class was there but everybody enjoyed hrmself 1n sprte of the fact We collaborated w1th the Ianuary class 1n mak1ng our annual Then we gave our Senror Play and went through the Com rnencement EXGTCISSS w1th flylng colors Dont thtnk when we say these thrngs that we re braggrng we re just trylng to talk our selves 1nto thrnklng we re good Well we ve lard our foundatlon or ltfe It took a long trme to burld but there ll be a lot longer trme to burld on rt If our founda tton IS a flrm one we owe 1t to the guldance of our sponsors and school leaders We are grateful for the1r xnterest tn our problems through these last four years PS For the real lowdown on the Iune Sentor GCIIVIIIGS see any Sentor 66 ' 99 1 1 I , I - ' I I I . , . , . , 1 1 xt II ' ' . 1 .1 1 11 - - 1 I 1 . , 1 1 1 1 1 . . . 1 ' ' . , 1 4 . - 1 1 - I . 1 I . . 1 1 1 1 I I I . 1 - 1 1 . 1 1 . 1 1 1 1 - - 1 I . .. 1 I 1 I 1 1 I . 1 . 1 . .
