— ©urintrhook ... I 2 Unique Situations for Snoot SCom eomings Doth homecomings were unique this year. Homecom- ing queen Kim Rheinholtz hod o dual role to ploy during the football festivities. She had to give up her role as drum major in order to be present during the halftime activities. The basketball homecoming, however, dealt with when (or if, as it seemed) It would ever b e played. Although it ' s not too unusual for a game to be called on account of snow, this year ' s game may have set its own record. The basketball homecoming was postponed three times because of bad weather, and when it was finally held, we ended up playing a different team than was originally scheduled. Top left: The football homecoming court consisted of freshmen Janice Zoiadz and David Verduzco, seniors Kim Elliott, Dob Morton, Kim Rheinholtz, and Rusty Drown, juniors Sherry Halcomb and Tom Ordwoy, and sophomores Michaelene Durton and Dobby Dailey. He ' s been a three-year varsity veteran. Gary Mathews was chosen Mt. Bas- ketball. He lettered three years and was leading scorer and rebounder on the team. At the Valparaiso section- als, he made the all-sectional team. He was co-captain of the varsity team. Dixie Darnell was awarded the title of Miss Ingot Spirit. Perhaps It would be more accurately described as a ' mock wedding of rhyme . ' Two couples, junior Sherry Holcomb, senior Gory Mathews and junior Connie Romos, senior Donnie Sims were Joined together In the make-believe wedding ceremony held In the round at 6:30 p.m. on December 10, 1961. Sponsored by the River Forest Family Living Classes, the ceremony was presented as a real wed- ding down to the lost detail, from the beginning proces- sion to the reception. At the start of the ceremony there was on air of silence os the audience waited for the procession to begin. Doth of the bride ' s fathers were there to escort their daughters up the aisle. Ending with the traditional kiss, the couples, now ' married ' , left the room to celebrate with their friends and family at the reception. Only Sherlock Holmes can stop the hound from killing again. As the play continues, suspicion falls on everyone from butterfly collectors to sinister servants. Although the production seemed plagued by setbacks, the students and their director, Mr. Hontz, kept their shoulders to the wheel. My special thanks are ex- tended to those businesses that helped to support us, to the faculty for their coopera- tion with picture taking and record keep- ing, to Mrs. Grusak for her help with our book keeping, to Mr. Hontz for bringing refreshments to a starved staff on late night production deadlines, to Mr. Marsza- lek for a helping hand when we needed one, and finally to the members of the yearbook class whose extra effort and hardwork produced an annual of which River Forest Junior-Senior High School may be proud.
