1981 Prom The rainy night was no barrier to the couples who attended the Moon- light and Roses Prom on May 9, 1931. Although the night was dark and gloomy, a ro- mantic moonlight glowed from within the Assumption Hall. The couples danced to the music of The Escorts. The back wall was decorated with a large silhouette of a couple dancing, and the words ' ' Moonlight and Roses glittered nearby. A large bird cage with two doves hung from the ceiling and paper roses could be seen every- where. Prom gifts included stick- pins for the girls and necklaces for the boys, and everyone received a souvenir booklet. Refreshments for the couples included punch, hors d ' oeuvres, cookies, and candy. 10
