Dedication The 1980 INGOT is dedicated to the senior class and Mrs. Dorothy Zakutansky. Mrs. Zakutansky began working in the River Forest cafeteria in 1972. She worked part-time as courier and ticket taker until two years ago when she took the job of cafe- teria coordinator. Mrs. Zakutansky began working to sup- port her daughter, Anita, and sons, John and Jerry, after her husband’s death twelve years ago. She was a good mother to her children and a good friend to the students. She was always friendly and pleasant. She took part in school activities and had an abundance of school spirit. She is sincerely missed by the students and faculty of River Forest.

The lights dim. The orchestra is warm- ing up. As the curtain rises, you expect to see a well known actor in a famous Broad- way play. But, throughout the pages, the scene becomes more familiar. There are no curtains to rise, actors to perform, or play to be seen. The curtains and scenery be- come lockers and desks. The performers aren’t really actors, but are friends and faculty members. As this book goes on, the more vivid and familiar the memories; that special dance, the game we almost won, the seniors anx- iously awaiting graduation, the under- classmen counting the days until summer.
