The 1978-1979 school year is the first full year that River Forest has had the use of the new Industrial Arts (cafeteria) addition. Completed last year, the new wing was officially dedicated in November of 1978. The cafeteria, affectionally called the Ingot Room , is the haven of the student body not only at lunch, but before school, too. Even though vandalized during the year , it remained the gathering place of many of the students who came to eat breakfast, talk to their friends, or finish up homework. Even with a drop in the total enrollment of River Forest, enrollment has increased considerably in the Industrial Arts department since the new addition has been completed. Last year, by act of the School Board, River Forest High School with enrollment of over 700 and River Forest Junior High with enrollment of over 300 students were combined to form River Forest Junior-Senior High School with an enrollment of nearly 1 , 100 students .
