J.E.T. . JETS was formed to stimulate interest in science and engineering among R.H.S. students. The club is intended for those who have an aptitude and interest in science and mathe- matics. It promotes and encourages good schol- arship and proficiency in high school subiects as prerequisites for future training. It aids the student in discovering and appraising his own abilities, aptitudes and interest in these' fields. Working on a proiect are Dick Reffert, Karen Adams, and Eddie Weideman. This club is comprised of students who have volunteered their services in the school library. Be- sides working at the desk, they help get new books ready for circulation, keep the magazines in order, return books to the shelves, and re-arrange books in their proper order. They entertained the Dalton Librarians Club in November and visited other libraries. The chief aim is to give college-bound students experience that will qualify them for work in a college library. 3? , 5' 2 . -5 ei,, 4, t r .Q , , r K L -l Q' ' gf L W' 1 1' 1 gg 45 f ,. 5.55 t 35 Vi s ' f :Fil Y ii 1 L l , Q . Just another example of the discussions and reports given in Psychology. Psychology, a new course to our curricu- lum, is taught by Mr. Pyle. Eighteen seniors discuss everything from lnteriority Complexes to Sibling Rivalry. Fun! Huh? CQMPOSITIO English Composition, a college prepara- tory course for seniors, is taught by Mr. Pyle. In this lively little class, the students are given a chance to exercise their imagin- ations and to learn the correct way to write essays, plays, short stories, and research papers - one of those necessary evils of college! Eeel -- This is art? Just another sample of what goes on in composition class. Penny Reffert and Dave Bernhardt show their masterpieces. RE DI The reading course furnishes students with materials and an incentive to improve both speed and comprehension. By using the reading accelerator, and reading the educational issue of each month's Reader's Digest, many students are making greater improvements and increasing their enjoyment of reading. Joe Ellis and Richard Samic use the reading accelerator. SPEECH Mary Workman gives her presentation to the class. Talking is the most common form of communication that we have, more direct and more exact than any written language. Speech has value only in so far as it conveys ideas or emotions. In speech class you ac- quire the ability to speak better and experi- ence the satisfaction that accompanies suc- cessful achievement. You learn to speak, and like it! SPANISH Proud ot their achievement in the vocabulary race are Ronnie Kuntz and Sue Rohrer. Spanish Class is divided into three groups, Los Siete Centavos, Los Tontitos, and Los Gonadores. They compete in vocabularies and the side with the highest amount of words missed throws a party for the winners. LTI i Latin Class meets twice a day, once for the freshmen and once for the sophomores. They take vocabularies and learn about the Roman way of lite, plus a sprinkling of ancient Roman mythology. First year Latin Students, Bob Reffert and Sharon Steiner, exhibit their books, showing a part of Rome. 50 i f COMMERCIAL The class learns to set margins. Our commercial courses consist of typing and shorthand taught by Mr. Turnerg and office practice and bookkeeping taught by Mrs. Kornhaus.
