The 'Si-S6 Sophomore Class this year is the largest ever at Ritenour with more than five hundred stu- dents. Last year with the building of the new Hoech Junior High, two Student Councils were necessary. Starting the year at Ritenour were Sue Crain, Presi- dentg Shirley Robinson, Secretary, and Denny Miller, Treasurer. ln January Keith Price was elected new President at Ritenour. Sue Crain was the first Presif dent of the new Junior High. Nathan Paul, the only other freshman officer, served as Tigeasurer the re- mainder of the year. John Lautermilch and Bill Scerba, Co-Captains of the Freshman football team, ended the season with a 5-l record. Other energetic players were Dave Stokes, George Otterman, Ron Morgan, Harry Gur- ley, Darryl Brooks, Ray Petty, and Denny Miller. The basketball team, really on their toes, won ten out of thirteen games. Harry Gurley, Ron Morgan, and John Lautermilch were some of the high scorers. The Freshmen were of great help on the Varsity track and wrestling teams. Dave Stokes, Joe Seiter, and George Otterman lettered in track, Rich Butts and Nathan Paul lettered in wrestling. Rich Butts was state champion. Looking forward with much enthusiasm to our Sophomore year, we elected George Otterman, Pres- ident, Ron Moe Albert, Vice Presidentg and Harry Gurley, Secretary-Treasurer of our class. For the third straight year our B team won championship by not losing a single game. Bill Scerba served as Captain. Others of the fighting eleven were Ronnie Wfilliams, Gilbert Compton, Ray Petty, Darryl Brooks, John Hess, Ron Albert, George Otterman, John Lautermilch, Harry Gurley, and Ron Morgan. Rich Butts, Pat Holmes and Tracy Sherman repre- sented us on the wrestling team. Judy Briner, escorted by Captain, Ray Wfilson, was the only Sophomore on the football court. Connie Theodorow, Nancy Matthews, Dot Hart- bauer, Judy Briner, Judy Ohler, Jo Ann Graf, Nancy Lynn, Judy Curry, Sue Bassman, and Doris Gerst were some of the girls who made the class hockey team. Judy Ohler and Dot Hartbauer went on and made Varsity. Some of the Sophomore reporters for the Pepper Box were Judy Renshaw, Kay Kohlbusch, Sherry Yadon, Joe Seiter, Roberta Dunham, and Judy Cook. Chosen for popularity candidates were Ron Mor- gan, Harry Gurley, Doris Caito, and Sue Crain. Thus ends the history of the Sophomore Class of
