PUNSHON On September 4, 1928, one hundred and twenty-nine Freshmen assembled at Ritenour High School. Mr. Punshon and Miss Tetley were the sponsors and the following officers were elected: President, Virginia Meyersg Secretary'Treasurer, Juanita Bell, and Class Reporter, Ruth Engel. The Freshies who represented their class in athletics were: Curly Springer, Steve Williams, Russell Nixon, Effie Reinemer, Baile Lieberstein, I-can Simpson, and Mabel Hetlage. In our Sophomore year Mr. Punshon and Miss Tetley continued as sponsors. Forest Springer was President: Bernice Baumgardt, Vice'President, and Virginia Rickerd, SecretaryfTreasurer. The Sophomores gave the first party of the year, a Tacky Masquerade. The class was well represented on the Pepper Box Staff by Ruth Boxdorfer as the Class Reporter, and Ruth Engel as the Girls' Sports Editor. Wilbur Sundermann, Steve Williams, and Curly Springer received their R for football. Both Steve and Curly played on the basketball teamg Nixon played baseball. The girls who represented their class in athletics were: Martha Germer, Ruth Engel, Virginia Lane, Effie Reinemer, Evelyn Abram, Mabel Hetlage, and Audrey Oldendorph. As Juniors, we got off to a good start by giving the Farmer Party, a success both socially and financially. There are several juniors members on the Pep er Box Staff again this year. They are: Ruth Engel, who is serving her third year on the staff: now Associate Editor, Girls' Sports Editor, Mabel Hetlage: Boys' Sports Editor, Theodore Mclvilleg Cartoonist, Kenneth Lane: Business Manager, William Moerschellq Advertising Managers, Vx7ilbur Sundermann and Robert Shackelfordg and the junior Class Reporter, Wilfred Boeckhaus. The boys who received their R in football were: Steve Williams, Curly Springer, John Torrillo, and Russell Nixon. Both Steve and Curly received their letters in basketball. This year the girls who are out for athletics are: Effie Reinemer, Audrey Oldendorph, Martha Germer, Mabel Hetlage, Thecla Poelker, Elida Ryder, Vinita Bertholdt, and Lucille Schaeffer.
