Stevens bringing you the 22th annual Rising- sun vs. Bloomdale Homecoming icider jug! football game. As I look here and there I see many Alumni attending this game. Many of them are members of the class of Sl. I suppose you all remember Norman Bassett who is now the Superintendent of RHS. He is the cause of some of the changes in the school, such as cushioned seats, no teachers, no books, papers or pencils, very few classes, popular movies, and refreshments, We'l1 call Supt. Bassett to the press box and ask him about some of the members of his class. Here's Norman now. Could you tell us what has happened to your classmates in the last 20 years that have passed since your graduation? Well, in the box seat at the 50 yard line I see Doyle Phillips who is now head of his own business the nPick Your Own Corporation.u He collects pencil shavings and grinds them into tooth picks. The man and woman setting next to Doyle is Kenny Cline and Delcie Stahl who are now married. Kenny and Delcie are new run- ning a super garage. Kenny taught Delcie how to grease cars, she's such an expert that he is now in the kitchen doing dishes, cooking, washing, ironing, etc. Betty Green had always dreamed of fame and fortune on the screen. Her big chance was realized when a talent scout came to the Senior Class Play and soon arranged a screen test. To her great joy, she was signed with MGM soon after and is now famous for her performances. Mary Phillips, whose daughter is now enrolled in our school, is now a lady wrestler she is currently known as Girl Wonder or Nature Girls Her last bout was with a wild baboon. She won it by a technical knockout. The lady in the far left hand corner of the stadium is Mary Keller who soon after graduation became a reader of the crystal ball. Her nickname is nKeller the Teller.n She is very famous, the world over, for all of her predictions, as she has only missed one in the last 20 years, The fat lady sitting on the bench near the sidelines is Margrete Stump who decided that family life just wasn't for her, so she gained 500 pounds and is now the fat lady with the Ringling Brothers Circus. xx' Q, .NX N SENIOR CLASS PROPHECY fcontinuedl The man next to her is Edward Onsel. Do you remember how he used to have such a time talking his dad out of the car? Well anyway, in time he became a famous orator, famous the world over. He is now known as nThe Man With The Swivel Tongue.u We do a lot of business with Madonna Utz as she is a sling shot designer. She makes sling shots exclusively for school purposes. So I see quite a lot of her. There is Barbara Lehmann who is now a bouncer for a very respectible niteclub in Florida. This all occurred after tak- ing lessons at Lois Stahl's UBui1d Your Muscles Training School.n Helen Sebring decided to become an inventor. Her first experiment was feeding chickens sawdust to see what would hap- pen. THE RESULT: Wooden eggst Donald Dieter is now President of Gum Factory. He has a new recipe. It glue. His slogan is WGcod to The Last Mina Mae Shaw is now head cook at Her reason for doing this was that she the Blowhard Bubble is-Sfh rubber, lfh Pop. X the Risingsun College. had.so many at home to cook for that she decided a few more wouldn't hurt. Jeane Smith decided she would become a famous athlete. She became the first woman baseball player for the Cleveland Indians. She is now their star pitcher. Out of 102 men up to bat she has struck out lOl. The other one she knocked out with one of her carless curve balls. Eddie Collins is now a famous lawyer. In his last case he won acquittal for a man with no arms who was accused of being a pickpocket. Ethel Stahl She is in charge this is the soft Da1e1Graber son he got this now works for a concern which makes toupees. of taking customer's measurements. It seems job she has been looking for. is now Warden at the State Prison. The rea- job was evident. The governor figured he de- served the job because he had been there longer than anyone else. You know Dale always did like to do things for people. Some of his friends wanted furs, diamonds, etc. Dale couldn't afford them, but he got themt SENIOR HISTORY In September of 1947 we were initiated into high school hy the Class of 150. It was our first major activity in high school and we made quite a spectacle. We did well as a class that first year. Helen Sebring was elected, by the high school, as an attendant to the Queen at our Homecoming Football Game. Our Sophomore year brought the chance we had been waiting tor. We initiated the Class of '52 into high school in a blaze of glory and thus ehrained revenge. This year Jeans Smith was chosen as our attendant to the Football Queen. As Juniors we found our duties increasing. In the fall of this year we received our class rings, and on October 4, 1949 we staged our Junior Class Play nAsk Me Anothern under the direction of Miss Pletcher. Our Jr,vSr. Banquet, was held on March 51, 1950 at the Toledo YMCA, after which we saw the Skating Vanities of '56 at the Sports Arena. Margrete Stump was chosen as FFA Queen, and Barbara Lehmann received the honor of being elected as the Homecoming Football Queen. Mary Phillips went to Buckeye Girls State, and Edward Onsel went to Buckeye Boys State. Mary Phillips was also chosen as Assist- ant Editor of the annual by the class of '50, Betty Green was also e stats delegate to the National FHA Convention held in Kansas City, Missouri. In our Senior Year we enjoyed the prestige and respect of upperclassmen, though we realized it was our last year at RHS. Ethel Stahl was elected as Homecoming Queen for the Second Annual Cider Jug Football Game with Bloomdale, this made us very proud because this is the second year the Queen was elected from our class. We were guests of honor at the Jre-Sr. Banquet at the YMCA in Toledo, on April 14, 1951, after which we journeyed to the Sports Arena to see Guy Lomberdoe We also presented our Senior Class Play Wwdke Up And Grown, on April 27, 1951, under the direction of William Smith. On our skip day we went on an educational excursion, Of the nineteen members of the Class of '51, three girls were FHA members, three boys were FFA members, two girls were cheerleaders, one girl was a majorette, three were members of the band, four boys earned football letters, five earned letters in basketball, and four boys played baseballe The captains of the football and basketball teams were both Seniors, also, Our Baccalaureate was on May 15 and our Gommenzement Exercises took place on May 15, Directly after this we left on a four day trip to our Nationis Capital. Thus we concluded our happy, busy days at RHSe - SENIOR CLASS WILL ' We, the departing Senior Class of 1951, being of sound body and sane m1nd??? do hereby decree this to be our last will and testament. To the janitor, we will all fly swatters, which you will find in our desks. To the faculty, we will all the assignments you have given.Rl in the past 12 years to use on the lomerclassmen. Our first thought was our class rings, which we received shortly after school began. With Harold Purkey as president, Donna Lehmann- V. pres., June Gorrill-treasurer, Harry Kemenah-sec.y, Donna Lehmann and Donald Norman, student council, Naomi Bateson, new re- porter, and Coach Gladieux as our sponsor we started off with a big fish fry, in which we made a good profit, but soon after- wards we had to start planning for the Junior-Senior Banquet. It was decided that it should be held April lil, 1951 and after- wards we would take the seniors to the Sports Arena for a real treat with Guy Lombardo. Donna Lehmann was chosen as one of the attractive attend- ants for the football queen this year. Both Donna and Naomi Bateson were chosen as cheerleaders. This is the first year for both of the girls. As most of our boys were active in sports, Harry Kemenah was honorable mention as an all county football player. With this year just about over we have already been looking into the future. Along with Coach Alton Gladieux, twenty-six boys came to practice, looking forward to a successful year as 'Fighting Tigersn. Of the twentyvsix boys, four of them received letters last year and eleven received them this year. Also there are nine fresh- men with numerals, with Hershel Strong as our faithful manager. We are proud to report that Kenneth Cline, a senior, was chosen as our Football Captain for Neon. During this season, consisting of nine games, our boys were proud in reporting the win of four out of the nine games. Two of these werd eleven man football and three of the games were played under the lights. One of our keen attractions was the six man preview game with Greensprings played at the new Fostoria Stadium. It was their first appearance in their freshly cleaned uniforms and they looked nice and made us feel proud to say we were from R. H. S. Probably if you take the Sunday Toledo Blade you noticed the pictures which were taken at the Homecoming game with Bloom- dale. The routine being the same as last year, our boys played very hard to keep the Cider Jug in which they won last year, but unfortunately they lost it by a Egg Points! With fine co-operation the boys playing together built up morale and character among themselves. With the team having good sportsmanship twomof the boys received Wood Co. Honors. Dale Graber received a position on the Wood County S1a.Man Football League First Team, and Harry Kemenah received Honorable Mention with these selections. Seniors to graduate from the Football squad are: Dale Graber, Don Dieter, Doyle Phillips, and Capt. Kenny Cline. We Seniors, wish all of the remaining Football players a lot of luck and along with wonderful guidance and coaching of Mr. Gladieux. We are sure you will do a fine job of playing in the years to come. Below is a record of the games our boys have chalked up for us both wins and losses. It really wouldn't be interesthg if the boys won all of the games would it? Practice Makes Perfect. Each year our schedule gets a little stronger, until we are playing such strong teams, as Wood County Champs, Olney, and District Competitors, Lake, Luckey, and Bloomdale. Some pride must be taken in the fact that the State B Class Champion, Grand Rapids, is a member of the Western Wood County League. It would-be a difficult task to pick an outstanding player or game from the 1950-Sl schedule, for almost all games were packed with thrills. All players were outstanding, and they had to be, to stand up under the tough schedule which they played, for everyone of the sixteen teams was a formidable foe. We will all remember the spirit of the spectators this year. The Gymnasium seemed packed to capacity at almost every game, and the noisy crowd made the game all the more exciting to the Tiger fans. We will always remember this team as one that could almost do the impossible: circus shots, backhand passing, stealing the ball, accurate tipping, blocking shots, clever follow up play as well as fine shooting. Passing and defensive play were regular features of every game. We remember Dale Graber's breaking away from the opponents to streak down the floor and take a long pass and score........ Norman Bassett's sinking long shots from near the center line.. ....John James' running circles around the defense and dribbling past the whole opposing team toscore......Ed Onse1's fine pivot work under the basket......William Gangwer's burly aggressive- ness......and such fine relief players as Don Norman, Everett Brewer, Harry Kemenah, Don Dieter, and Doyle Phillips. All these things combined, coach, cheerleaders, and players led to a successful season. 1 run-t M-.NU ,.,, .
