I, r K k SENIOR CLASS HISTORY As I awoke early in the morning September 7, 1938, and gazed out of my window I saw forty small children getting aboard 'The Steamer of Successn which was to leave that morning, and to arrive at Risingsun School at 9:00.- Ths next day as I picked up the Uniqpe Weekly to scan the school news, I ran across a story of the same group of children that had boarded the steamer and of how they had responded to their entry into school, It mentioned the teacher, Miss Storey, and told of their lives before they entered school. As the years passed on, and I read my copies of the town paper, I watched for and kept clippings of the activities of these children and the decrease or increase in the number of students in their class. The clippings I have that I prize most are the write-ups about their being initiated into the Freshman Class, the staging of the Junior Class Play nThe Angell Brats,n and the receiving of their Junior Class rings. It seems that now they are completing their twelfth year and are waiting to receive their diplomas May 18, 1950. I also have clippings that tell of the activities they have participated in this year. Three girls are F.H.A. members, five boys are F.F.A. members and there is one girl who is n cheerleader Three lettermen mere Lack for football and three back for basket- ball, seven players were back for baseball, M As I retired for the evening after reading these clippings over again, I lay there thinking of the things which had taken them twelve years to learn and that had taken me just one half- hour to reread., As I awoke the next morning and glanced at the Unique Weekly I saw the headlines reading uFour Seniors made history by taking R.H.S. to Semi-Finals.W This we seniors are glad to read thlt two of our boys made all-county. This does not mean the seniors alone led R.H.S. to such a hood standing. We received help from other classes and appreciate their assistance. ' After placing all of these clippings back in my scrapbook and putting it back into my desk drawer the words nKnowledge Comes But Wisdom Lingersn show very brightly against the top of my book. This had led me to think that ghis ggugg glgg true of the Seniors and also is true of me, because this class of u195On had done numerous things that Rus nude my thoughts linger on its past. As Baccalaureate arrive May 14, and Commencement May 18, I believe the Seniors will be ready to any as Bob Hope says, 'Thanks for the memories.' , ... ,,., ..,--,,A ..,A - 'V' A-7 'A A
