I, r K k SENIOR CLASS HISTORY As I awoke early in the morning September 7, 1938, and gazed out of my window I saw forty small children getting aboard 'The Steamer of Successn which was to leave that morning, and to arrive at Risingsun School at 9:00.- Ths next day as I picked up the Uniqpe Weekly to scan the school news, I ran across a story of the same group of children that had boarded the steamer and of how they had responded to their entry into school, It mentioned the teacher, Miss Storey, and told of their lives before they entered school. As the years passed on, and I read my copies of the town paper, I watched for and kept clippings of the activities of these children and the decrease or increase in the number of students in their class. The clippings I have that I prize most are the write-ups about their being initiated into the Freshman Class, the staging of the Junior Class Play nThe Angell Brats,n and the receiving of their Junior Class rings. It seems that now they are completing their twelfth year and are waiting to receive their diplomas May 18, 1950. I also have clippings that tell of the activities they have participated in this year. Three girls are F.H.A. members, five boys are F.F.A. members and there is one girl who is n cheerleader Three lettermen mere Lack for football and three back for basket- ball, seven players were back for baseball, M As I retired for the evening after reading these clippings over again, I lay there thinking of the things which had taken them twelve years to learn and that had taken me just one half- hour to reread., As I awoke the next morning and glanced at the Unique Weekly I saw the headlines reading uFour Seniors made history by taking R.H.S. to Semi-Finals.W This we seniors are glad to read thlt two of our boys made all-county. This does not mean the seniors alone led R.H.S. to such a hood standing. We received help from other classes and appreciate their assistance. ' After placing all of these clippings back in my scrapbook and putting it back into my desk drawer the words nKnowledge Comes But Wisdom Lingersn show very brightly against the top of my book. This had led me to think that ghis ggugg glgg true of the Seniors and also is true of me, because this class of u195On had done numerous things that Rus nude my thoughts linger on its past. As Baccalaureate arrive May 14, and Commencement May 18, I believe the Seniors will be ready to any as Bob Hope says, 'Thanks for the memories.' , ... ,,., ..,--,,A ..,A - 'V' A-7 'A A Rrsrncstm HIGH SCHOOL cuss or 1950 BACCALAUREATE ssavrcss strmmy MAY 14, 19501. 8:15 p.m.. During the last few weeks I have interviewed the members of this class in order to tell you what they have accomplished, Lois Fausey is now head make-up artist at a large movie studio in Hollywood. Lois does most of her work on actors and actresses in horror movies. She hasn't however, for- gotten her country home in Ohio where she journeys. each fall to guard her prize water-melon patch. Don Swaisgood is retired. It seems he wont West as a government agent to teach the Indians modern farming. Don found a huge underground river and irrigated thier reservations. The Indians made so much money they made Don an honorary chief- tain and gave him an annual income of QlO0,000. Barbara Miller owns and operates the uJouetteH a fashion- able New York restaurant. The restaurant is famous for tiger meat served Swiss style. All the waitresses uniforms are black corduroy with bright orange satin trim. They blend in with the walls also black and orange. Francis Kreais worked for awhile on a freighting boat. One stormy night Francis was washed overboard on the Egyptian shore. thile hitchhiking inland he came upon the king, whose car had stopped. Francis soon fixed the motor trouble and is now a permanent employee at the palace. On hot afternoons he rides up and down the Nile River on a golden barge. Some lifeg Trois Stainbrook has done several things. First she was a member of the all girl Symwhonette which traveled world- wide. Trois then attended college and entered the field of teaching. She now teaches in northern Alaska where she start- ed a progressive school for Eskimo children. Don Graber is our American ambassador to Brazil, Perhaps you've seen him in the newsreels. Don always wears a black coat, white shirt and trousers, a red sash and red carnatlon. He has greatly improved internatinnal relations by learning to rhumba. K X. 0 -- -A--M -b-- -+-----udal --'M SENIOR PROPHECY fcontinuedl Fred Bingle is the now famous astrologer who gave us the answer to the mysterious flying saucers. For this ac- complishment the United States government built him a special labratory with a giant telescope. Fred works very hard , but relaxes by vacationing on the moon. He says it's very quiet there. Barbara Younkin now devotes all her time to the raising and racing of a stable of thoroughbred horses, She got her start in her Senior year and soon had so many horses she bought a farm KSquires Farm! in Kentucky.. Barbara now sits on the old top rail singing ccwboysongs. Jim Stahl is now proprietor of his own factory, After graduation Jim played professional football. When he re- turned to take up a milk route Jim found the bottles so heavy he started work on making milk capsules. His factory now produces.the world's tiniest compact quart of milk. Eva Mae Rathburn is an instructor of girls physical ed- ucation in Cleveland. Though teaching rakcs up a lost of her time Eva manages to see all the Cleveland home baseball games. During summer vacations Eva works on her favorite '- hobby-making perfume from flowers she grows in her garden. I hear her lastest perfume is radio-active. Ronnie Bassett was raising strawberries but decided this unglamorous life was not for him. Gne day he found a mink and this changed his life completely. Soon he had dozens of minks but his favorite is a white one with brown and black spots. Ronnie has prospered so well that he had his living-room rug made of white mink. Beverly Gorrill taught school for several years, but she enjoyed cooking and baking so much as a sideline that she was employed by General Mills in Minneapolis as a foods labratory technician. CA very impressive titlel. Bev's recipes are so popular she's becoming another Betty Crocker. Don Cunningham has a workshop in Risingsun where he turns out some very unique inventions. He attends all the stock- car races and frequently enters his own car, a Model-T with a Cadillac motor. The car attracts attention and always wins. In fact Don is seriously thinking of building a trophy room. Leroy Kline Wpounded the pavementn for awhile selling Fuller Brushes, This proved to be too hard on his feet and he decided to try a job where he pcould sit down. He found the perfect job-he sits in a big easy chair all day counting gold at Fort Knox.
