SENIOR HISTORY 1 8 1 if Q di., i 'L if 78 September 24, 1974 Dear Diary, The summer just flew by. This is my third year at Rip. Many of my friends are working so they can afford all our new responsibilities - the class play, Sadie Hawkins, and our own prom. The contribution and cooperation of each of us will be needed, and I know it will be given. We're leaders. I don't know how we got here, but here we are. October 3, 1974 Dear Diary, Elections have been held, and our oilicers will be busier than ever. Mark Rosenbaum is our President and Ron Osher is our V.P. Our Secretary is Vicki Levine and Adrienne Harper is our Treasurer. Good luck, guys! We have been feverishly planning our class play. There is so much talent in this school. I'm truly amazed. November 20, 1974 Dear Diary, M 'A 'S 'H was a SM 'A 'S 'H! We had a total sell-out. We had 800 people enjoying a great Thespian performance. Rob Yaeger was super. As a class we are building a momentum which can't help but carry us to great heights. It's the Class of '76 spirit. We may march to the beat of a different drummerf' but we are determined to march. I never thought that getting involved would be so rewarding. Some kids just don't realize what theylre missing. December 12, 1974 Dear Diary, So many of my friends are getting their driver's license. I can't wait to get mine. The Sadie Hawkins Dance is coming up soon. It's quite a switch having a girl ask a guy to a dance. Rip is helping to establish its own version of the ERA. February 14, 1975 Dear Diary, Happy Valentineas Day! The dance was a terrific success. We had a great turnout. I wonder what happened to all those marriage certificates? We keep grinding out gimmicks to increase the balance in our treasury. We are slowly acquiring fiscal autonomy. The administrators and advisors have been dy-no-mitef' I'm not sure why adults suddenly seem so different to me. It bothers me that I can't seem to put my finger on the answer. March 27, 19-75 Dear Diary, S.A.T.,s loom menacingly for many of us. If they're anything like the P.S.A.T.'s, they'll be tough. Everyone tells me that I can,t study for them. That,s no consolation. Right now I need Linus' security blanket. Pm apprehensive. I feel like a freshman again.

September 15, 1973 Dear Diary, Moving upward now. I'm a sophomore. The school doesn't seem so big anymore but the seniors still do. I remember the summer with Touch Me In The Morning and Diamond Girlf' But back to the books. October 13, 1973 Dear Diary, The four M's won the election for the sophomore class oiflcers. Kevin Martinek is president, Maureen McGrath is V.P. Our secretary is Laura Miller and Margaret Murphy is our treasurer. I'm looking forward to a great year. December 15, 1973 Dear Diary, Another super bake sale! Our treasury is lookin, good. There's a special feeling developing among all of us. I can't describe it. I only know it's there. It's a lot like electricity. You really cant see it but you sure see its results. February 3, 1974 Dear Diary, Welre giving up on bake sales and are looking for some other hot item. Someone suggested candy bars. I'll do my part, but I stop when my face breaks out in pimples. Our class officers and advisors met with a rep from Jostens Ring Company. I'm really high because I'll be able to have my class ring before the end of this school year. April 7, 1974 Dear Diary, The class adopted a foster child today - Kimberly Block. Three hundred eighteen 10th graders are a lot of Hparentsl' to have. The candy sale is going great, but I'm getting a little sick of eating a bar each day before 3rd period. May 4, 1974 Dear Diary, Pickles? That's what we're into now. We're selling them in the cafe. We must have the only kosher cafe in the city. I got my class ring today. I finally look good in green. It's so shiny. I wonder what it will mean to me in two years. This one's almost gone. June 23, 1974 Dear Diary, It's half over! Soph finals have come and gone. We are knowledgeable in our loss of innocence, in a very literary sense. Welve gone through crumbs on the mouth, acne on the face, and garlic on the breath. Next year Illl be an upper classman. I don't know if thatlll be good or bad, but I think it will be fun.

April 16, 1975 Dear Diary, We had a Ski and Skate sale today. It was a great success, due exclusively to the organizational talents of Laura Mann and Adrienne Harper. Imagination and originality were bred from within our own ranks. There is a special pride involved when you can pull off this type of activity. May 10, 1975 Dear Diary, We sponsored a gymnastic show. Fantastic. A lot of planning went into this event. but our real etfort is being concentrated on our Junior Prom. This is what we have been pointing toward for the entire year. May 16, 1975 Dear Diary, The Junior Prom was so terrific. Kids I've known and worked with suddenly looked different - grown-up, mature. Dancing in the Moonlight was brought to us by The Soul Musicians. Anyone who was there will not forget Ease on Down the Road. I wonder where all those Howers came from? June 15, 1975 tual Dear Diary, It was a super year and next year will be even better. We elected our oflicers now so we will be already organized in September. Mike Carmine is Presidentg Jon Shepard is Vice Presidentg Leslie Sayer is Secretaryg and Sharon Wolfsohn is Treasurer. Each student is getting his yearbook and graduation picture taken now. We will be having a colored Senior Section in Riptide '76. This will be a Rip first. The Spirit of '76 rolls on! 1 t 1 1 I. we 'ii fa ' l e - A V , . V V. V ,tt -VVV 1 4, .t 3 W-.VV ,x .
