ACTIVITIES 128 'f2.J55f?. T Courses of studies are not the only things which educate and give the students at Rippowam a good start in life, whether it be for college preparation, the service, or a full-time job. There is much more to offer here. The co-curricular experiences are just as much a part of a high school student as any English course on science program. The challenge of run- ning the mile in competition, editing the school pa- per, or helping decorate for the Junior Prom accomplishes one of the most important facets of education - involvement. You have to become in- volved in order to enjoy. It develops a sense of be- longing. Spirit and energy are the only requirements for any interested student who wishes to contribute. Few students go home everyday when the 2:00 p.m. bell rings. Late buses are available to students who wish to become involved in an activity any day after school. Teachers very often work with these students on projects and organizations. It is these after school hours that develop a true sense of rap- port and identification between the faculty and stu- dent body. Co-curricular activities provide the students with a true sense of unity. Participation leads to new friends and future interests. A play, a story for the Literary Review, a chess match, training on the 'guniversal gymv, or just a hand of bridge can en- hance any student's school day. The 2:00 bell does not signify the end of school, but rather the beginning of a concerted eifort made by dedicated students and faculty members to ben- etit our Rippowam High School.
