SOPHOMGRE CLASS HISTGRY The Sophomore Class has now reached the end of our second year at Ripp, and the time has passed by so quickly! It seems like only yesterday when we were getting our freshman orientation and thinking that the seniors were terribly tall and so much older! With class advisors Mr. Buchbinder and Miss LaFountain we elected officers Joe Hickey, Debbie Freidman, Pamela Mann and Mary Ann Sanderford. We remember running those crazy bake sales where we'd have ninety-nine varieties of chocolate chip cookies and a soggy angel food cake that fell off the knife and landed on the floor. Our best fundraising venture, which has continued onto this year, was the selling of doughnuts and orange drink at the home basketball games. Carol Heller, Sonia Peterson, Pamela Mann, and Kelly Dempsey led the way for us this year as we climbed the ladder to our sophomore year. Class rings were ordered: memories of deciding what cut of stone, whether or not to have our names engraved inside, and Gold or white gold??'?,' are left in our minds. The rest of the year was busy too. We held an old fashioned square dance that was enjoyed by all. Old straw hats, corn cob pipes, denim overalls, and plaid kerchiefs were the style that night. And the refreshments even had a touch of real country flavor! The Class of '78 anticipates a fruitful and funfilled junior year next September. We can start thinking about all the fabulous events like Sadie Hawkins, the Junior Class Play, and the Prom! .KIM K WF' is mi, Q lOl
