' Dear Mrs. Ter Avest: There have been very few students here at clear old Ripon High that haven 't had the privilege oft taking a class from you. All of us who did take your classes will agree that we certainly have received much valuable knowledge. We, the Seniors, are especially indebted to you. Your unselfish devotion of a school teacher's most valuable possession, time, and your expert guidance has helped the class of '59 attain the goals it has set for itself. There is another class to replace this year's Seniors, but your absence will leave an empty place in the hearts of the students next year. We wish you all the happiness and good fortune in the years to come. May this Mission help portray our love and devotion to you. The Class of l959 2 X QI!! The Warwhoop was reorganized this year. Each member of the Journalism Class participated as Editor-in-Chief. This gave all the students a first- hand experience in handling all phases of the publication of the paper. This year's Warwhoop also introduced some new features. These were The Shadow, Hall's Crystal Ball and the Irate Rooter. The Shadow was written by various members to the staff, Doug Hall wrote the Crystal Ball and Ted Beacom was responsible for the controversial lrate Rooter. All in all, this year's Warwhoop enjoyed a very successful year. - Wauwhoop Stabb FRONT ROW: Dorothy Gomes, Rosemary Vieira, Marlene Poletti, Kathleen Rose, Lorraine Todd, Dolores Denison. Coach Woolverton had some fine material, including a good sized team and at the same time a very fast and hustling'squad. There weren't many teams in the league that showed the hustle and spirit of the little Indians. Defeating the Hughson Huskies B team in their second contest, and thus denying them a share of the basketball championship, was probably one of the teams greatest accomplishments. Senior: memouiea Oh, for the good old days. Remember the cold football games when we yelled our heads off? We almost screamed our way to the championship. lf our football heroes didn't realize it, our throats sure did the next day. The Homecoming parade, the freezing game, where only the foolish dared to venture with out the soothing protection of long-johns. These and many more fond memories high-lighted our fall in dear old R. U. H. S. The main high-light of the Fall for we Seniors was, of course, the Senior Hay-ride, where everyone enjoyed the balmy breeze. A Few of the girls won't forget bobbing for apples either. Let's not mention names. Along came Winter, and things settled down a little at the old pent- house. The A's seemed to be losing their Basketball games with surprising regularity and things seemed to really slack off. Then along came the dance bands and Ted Paine's Record Hop. Within no time things were jumping again and the Irate Rooter buried his ugly head. The A's started winning again and the cheering section seemed to teem with spirit. Then came Spring, Ah lovely Spring, the flowers peeked their tender heads from beneath the once dormant soil and there was the fragrant scent of almond blossoms in the air. Along came the many baseball games, track meets, and all the school activities that seem to wait for Spring to come out of hiding. The Band and Glee Festivals, the really important Speech tourna- ments, The Ag trips, and then came the most important events of the year. The Senior Dinner where the music was soft, the lights were low, and the steaks were rare. The Senior Ditch Day, with its boisterous wind, its lovely gray clouds, and its warm temperature. Baccalaureate and commencement practice seemed to slip by unnoticed except For the swimming and eating that accompanied it. Then came the big night. There we were all sixty-one of us. The foot- lights glaring at us, the hungry crowd waiting in anticipation for the moment when their relative or friend's name will be called off. Then all of a sudden out of a clear blue sky something happened! There was a miscount in the third row and two people were sitting on one chair! Then to top that off, a chair slipped through the riser and a very surprised young lady discovered she was lying flat on her back. We all survived though, only to run the gamut of receptions and swims at the Reservoir the next morning.
