DEBATE They called it a build-up year, and rightly so, because Ripon had a team composed BOW of people in their first year of competition. We werenit supposed to win any- thing according to the odds, but we fooled the odd makers by annexing a sweep- stakes at Stockton College and another at Tracy by mid-season. Starring for Ripon were Jim O'Berg, Marilyn Vieira, Bill Colbert, Ronnie Fried- man, Janice Vander Laan, Margaret Hoff, Gloria Bianchi, Robert Richards, Loris Bringelson, and Loretta Robbins-all brought home trophies this year. Leading the group were Margaret Hoff with three trophies and Gloria Bianchi and Jim O'Berg with two trophies each. The rest named, each had one trophy by the time this copy was writtenfi Yes, they have been a great group of novices.
