Because there have been no real complaints, and also because of the results of their efforts, it seems ostensible that they have fulfilled their respective offices with great conscientiousness. I can earnestly and sincerely say that it is really going to be difficult for next year's cabinet to attempt to fill the shoes of such competent officers. I would also like to express my appreciation to Mr. Poletti, for I feel that as an advisor he is surpassed by none. FRE HMAN CLASS The outset of the Freshman Class at Ripon High began in the usual manner of locating classrooms, forgetting locker combinations, and getting acquainted with the school, teachers, and students. The Sophomore Class welcomed us with the annual Freshman-Sophomore Brawl, a get-acquainted party which was loads of fun. The sweets sale which we undertook received the co-operation of the entire class. The money earned from this was used for a skating party. We, the Freshman Class, take this opportunity to thank our advisors, Mrs. Huffman and Mr. Ortez, for their assistance in making our first year in high school such a success. GPHO GRE CLASS Our Sophomore year has been one of continual progress under the leader- ship of Dave Eckhoff, our president, and Miss Perry and Mr, De Selle, our advisors. CHOW could we have managed without the helpful suggestions of Bobby Richards in our class meetings?j Our first activity of the year was the Freshman-Sophomore Brawl. Like most school parties everyone enjoyed games, wink-um, with the stentorian voice qualities of Frank Franzia directing them, and refreshments, plus our initiation of the Freshmen. Since We had spent some money, more was needed. Under projects to better our financial standing, throughout the course of the year, we sponsored a cake sale, the dance after the Hughson basketball game, a Box Social and Dance Qsocial and squarej, a booth at the Carnival, the first swimming party of the year, and other projects. The class really united in spirit by supporting David Zellmer, our B football HE MAN, and Elanef Bianchi, our class secretary Qfor the first semesterj, for our King and Queen representatives for the Junior class-sponsored King and Queen Dance. We were second only to the Seniors both with our float and in our votes in cents, not senses, in our support of our representatives. All in all, we had a good year. SENIORS OUR STORY Oh, we are, we are the Clan of '53, The bert, the very bert that there will e-ver be. So came on girl: and boyrg left all :bout and .ring with glee, For we'1e proud, we're proud lo be the Clair of '53. Classes come and classes go, but the Class of '55 is one that will always be remembered as a class which broke tradition. Initiation into Ripon High came with the Freshman-Sophomore Brawl at which we were threatened into wearing clothes inside-out and backwards. During our Sophomore year we gave a Halloween costume party for the incoming Freshmen. Our year as Juniors occupied us with making money, a task for which other classes referred to us as the money-mad Juniors. However, the results of the wonderful prom, which for the first time was held in Stockton at the Officers' Club, was well worth the time and money put into it. As juniors, we sponsored the first King and Queen Dance. and sold food at the Ripon debate tournaments. We initiated the practice of having school dances at the Rifle Range instead of using the study hall. The Class of '53 won the pep award for the parade preceding the Escalon game for two years in succession. As our gift to the school we pooled our funds with those of the Class of '52 to purchase a tape recorder. The year to which we had all been looking forward for so long finally arrived, and as Seniors. we enjoyed both a Senior breakfast and the usual banquet in Stockton. We had fun every moment on Ditch Day at Yosemite Park. We will always cherish the experiences we have shared during our years at Ripon High, our fine faculty, and our Principal, Mr. Stouffer, who put up with the roaming Seniors he consistently found in the corridors. We especially express our gratitude to Mr. Kingery, our Scotch advisor, who economized for us with only our interests at heart, and Mrs. Gartman, the English teacher who caught us biting sunflower seeds so many times when we were supposed to be reading Macbeth. The memoirs buried under the placque of '55 shall live on in our hearts as we go on, determined to find a path or make one. Our sincere appreciation goes to Mr. Bourquin, our advisor, who took the pictures for this book and spent hours of his own personal time in the darkroom developing them. His work of ad- vising the staff and of bringing back in picture form the hap- penings of this year was a difficult task, and we thank him for his untiring efforts in our behalf. We also extend our gratitude to Miss Perry, who helped with the art work, and to Mrs. Gartman, who proofread the copy. Photographs, snaps, dummies, copy sheets, ads, deadlines, subscription campaigns, finances-it's a lot of work, but now it's done! We hope you like it. MISSION STAFF
