STOUFFER Principal PRlNCIPAL'S MESSAGE The firsf essenfial of a successful school is fhe feeling of co-operafion on fhe parf of all concerned. Because of fhis feeling fhe Ripon High School has for many years main- fained a place of leadership in fhe man fields of school acfivifies. The acfivifies offered fo fhe s+udLn+s of Ripon High School are as varied as fhose found in any larger high school and fhe sfudenfs have a much greafer chance of parficipafion. We wonder how many ofher graduafing classes have expressed fhis same senfimenf year affer year. Neverfheless, fhe Class of '50 says if wifh fhe greafesf of confidence fhaf no ofher class could possibly have enjoyed fhemselves as much in four years as we have. Jusf for a liffle review, Ie+'s prefend fhaf we are wafching a moving picfure fhal' has recorded fhe acfivifies 'I'he class has parficipafed in during fhe lasf four years. Firsf on fhe film would be fhe class as freshmen. I+ would show fhem iusf becom- ing accusfomed fo high school, geffing inifiafed in fine sfyle and going on numerous skafing, lofher- wise known as black-and-bluel parfies. Nexf 'I'he same people would be shown as sophomores, much more sure of fhemselves, giving fhe firsf of many successful dances: and mosf imporfanf of all, hold- ing hol' dog sales, popcorn sales and every ofher kind of sale imaginable fo raise money for jlhe Junior-Senior Prom. The Junior year, if porfrayed on fhe screen, would definifely have fo be in fech- nicolor for fhal' year was cerfainly full of colorful evenfs. ,The biggesf excifemenf as Juniors was, of course, fhe planning of fhe Prom. Ofher imporfanf evenfs of fhaf year were receiving class rings and sponsoring color days. To finish fhe year off well, a rip-roaring presidenfial campaign was held fhaf was qui'I'e fhe noisiesf and mosf excifing Ripon High had had in some years. Now fhe show is nearly over and fhe Class of '50 is shown feeling very proud of being upper classmen buf a liffle sad af 'rhe fhoughf of leaving. Officers who served fhe enfire year were Frank Jacklich, presidenfg Bill Van Wyk, vice-presidenfg Frances Marfini, secrefary- freasurerg Bill Whifmore and Chuck De Vries served as congressmen. One of fhe firsf fhings fhaf hap- pened fo fhe class was 'Io gain Mr. Gingrich as an adviser fo fake fhe place of Mr. Olavarri. Ac- fivifies of fhese lasf few monfhs included choosing fhe class moffo, The ropes of 'Ioday ring fhe bells of fomorrow, and fhe class flower, fhe carnafiong fhe selecfion of announcemenfsg fhe planning of Difch Day in Yosemifeg and fhe year was finished before if even seemed fo begin. Thus fhe film ends felling fhe sfory of a graduafing class wifh plenfy of laughs and some preffy good previews of 'Ihe fufure. To fhe direcfors of fhis film, Mr. Sfouffer, faculfy members and especially fo our advisers, Miss Boggiano and Mr. Gingrich, fhe Seniors would like fo express fheir sincere appreciafion for fhe help and encouragemenl' fhey have given fo us fhrough 'Ihe years. To fhe classes fhaf follow, fhe Class of '50 wishes good luck and may 'I'hey fully enioy fheir remaining years af fhis school. 95455: X w l s wa , SL Ea fz- .E .MQW sm wwf vm H rw wi' el First row, lef? lo right: loduon Bakker, Farschon, Silva, Stanley Madowski, Barkley, Sanford. They were: Bill Vander Laan, presidenfg Joe Sanchez, vice-presidenfg Sarah Adams, secrefary-freasurerg and Mary Furfado and Don Peferson, congressmen. ln order fo raise money for fhe Prom, we gave a hof lunch of spagheffi, French bread, and hof chocolafe. This fype of lunch was a big success wifh fhe sfudenfs. Affer fhe hof lunch we found we sfill needed more money so we gave a dance affer fhe Ripon-Linden foofball game. lf was one of fhe biggesf and mosf successful dances of fhe year. For fhe second semesfer we elecfed fhe following new officers: Dwighf Nyquisf, presidenfg Wanda Whifmore, vice-presidenfg and Joan Toombs, secrefary-freasurer. For our class parfy we decided fo have an old-fashioned parfy in fhe gym. Alfhough fhe boys oufnumbered fhe girls, everyone broughf food for fhe pofluck dinner before fhe parfy. Affer all were safisfacforily filled, we had sack races and ofher games. To finish off, we had a rough-and-fumble game of baslzefball. All agreed if was one of fhe besf parfies fhey ever affended. Wifh such wonderful people as Coach Jake and Mrs. Beacom as advisers, we couldn'f help buf have a busy and successful year. Rosenfeld, SOPHOMORE CLASS The desire fo gef fhe ball rolling possessed fhe whole Sophomore Class as we assembled for our firsf class meefing. Class officers were: Delores Wassink, presi- denfg Rhyn Pranger, vice-presidenfg Croce Migliore, secrefary-freasurerg Alber+a Marsman and Tommy Arcoleo, congressmen. Firsf on our agenda was calling a 'lruce wifh fhe Freshman Class fhrough +he Frosh-Soph Brawl. The Brawl was held in fhe gym wifh varied games such as volley- ball, baskefball, ping-pong, relay races, efc. Freshmen were required fo wear fheir clofhes inside ouf and backwards. Each was given a reward for coming as direcfed. Their faces fell when fhe long-awaifed award was given, for if was iusf a sfick of gum! lf was like a bombshell exploding when fhe Sophs surprised fhe sfudenf body on Pep Day wifh fancy red and whife hafs and paddles reading, Pep me up. l'm a Sophomore. Also fo confribufe more spirif fo our foofball games we sold pom-poms. ' Wifh anxiefy we faclcled fhe job of giving our firsf school dance. The fheme of School Days was chosen. Since fhe dance was held affer fhe Ripon-Linden baskef- ball game, many Linden as well as Ripon sfudenfs affended. We neffed over S40 and fhe dance was considered one of fhe mosf successful of fhe year. By fhe end ofhfhe firsf semesfer we had worn ouf our officers, so we elecfed fhese new ones: Alberfa Marsman, presidenfg Florence Lial, vice-presidenfg and Kafhleen Nicolaysen, secrefary-freasurer. During fhe second semesfer we presenfed a double feafure show for fhe sfudenf body. The plays were School Daze and The Shoofing of Dan McGrew. Af fhe inframural frack meef, our class sold popcorn and homemade candy. The conclusion of our small fry days in high school has finally come and nexf year we will be high and mighfy iuniors! Our special fhanks go, of course, fo our advisers, MissiKearnan and Mr. Azevedo, who have had every bif as much inferesf and enfhusiasm inlour acfivifies as have fhe sfudenfs fhemselves. Co-operafion has been fhe by-word of our sfaff. All fhe members were gen- erous wifh fheir fime and ideas, all eager and willing fo work fogefher. This year's edifor was Barbara Gerbing.
