SCHOOL RIPON, CALIFORNIA FOREWCRD We, the Lance Staff, proudly present this issue of the Lance, and hope that you will enjoy the portrayal of a year's events at Ripon Christian High. Here is a record of our classes, achieve- ments, and activities of the past year. On these pages you will see a year's progress in the molding of young Christian citizens for the King- dom of God. May you be able to see something of the aims and ideals toward which we strive. May you see something, too, of the faith that gives meaning to our ideals, for ours was a training for time and for eternity. In future years as you turn the pages of the 52 Lance, may familiar faces and scenes bring fond memories of happy years spent at Ripon Christian High, and may you enjoy comparing the changes and growth that the years have brought about in your school. Seeking to advance Christ's Kingdom, these men unstintingly devote much of their time and energy to the Ripon Christian Schools. To them falls the task of governing the school system justly and honestly. May their continued striving be successful and bear rich reward. MR. I. LUTH Farmer DR. H. DE IONG Dentist MR. M. I mean, education is primarily a matter of seeking to conform ourselves to certain definite standards. Education in general today is losing the disciplinary char- acter because standards Of truth and morality are breaking down. Your school training has been a special one. It is designated CHRISTIAN. When We say CHRISTIAN We have something very definite in mind in the Way of standards. These are found in the Word of God. They are high and exacting. We find them in these words: Be ye perfect even as your Father in heaven is perfect. To seek to be controlled in our thinking, in our feeling, in our willing by the principles of God's Word should be the aim of the Christian student. May you cherish this type of training which your parents sought to give you through the medium also of Ripon Christian High. We trust that you have caught something of the challenge and meaning of life as an adjustment to the demands of a holy God. May you continue this educative process throughout your whole life. The World desperately needs graduates disciplined in mind and heart to give leader- ship in a bewildered World. Congratulations, Class of '52l Our prayers and best wishes go with you. They started out by prac- ticing after school and on Saturdays. Last year saw the biggest tennis turn-out yet and the final play-offs were between Bill De Boer and Pete Hekman with Bill coming out on top. 'TRACK After a lapse of tive years we had a track season again. The boys were divided into two groups, the upper and lower divisions, according to their age and size. A determined effort was made to break some ol Ripon Christian l-ligh's old track records in the track meet. Two of these records were broken, both in the upper division, when Bill Kamps made a new record in shot put and the Iunior team set a new time record in the 220-yard relay. Q They're off!
