PHUPHEUU O mystic ball from out thy depths The Future to this class reveal Thy knowledge hidden deep from sight QM Pray g1ve us now and naught conceal Oh Sen1or Class of Ripley High School hear ye the message I bring Life is divided 1nto three great periods the past the present the future The past with its many happy days of freedom from care is behind you It is now only a succession ofbeautiful memories that 1n years to come we shall love to recall The present w1th its petty trials its days of study and play of triumph and d1sappo1ntment IS with you now but the great unknown future stretches out before you an untraveled road f1lled w1th you know not what Perhaps lt IS great Joy and success perhaps sorrow and dissappointment per haps wealth perhaps poverty perhaps fame You go forward with as it were your eyes blindfolded traveling the great road of life each step opening up something new something unexpected But I with mystic power can unfold that future to you and give a brief glimpse of this c ass of 1951 Thirty years from today I see Doris Sheilds a Ladies Home Journal to become a great teacher of music Since she has gained fame while traveling through France she is hav1ng a beautiful ' Old Ma1ds Home built for herself She also wants the home to entertain on weekends for her ood friend Miss Celesta Brown who 15 kept very busy teaching the first ra e at Polecat Junction Grammar School As the scene changes Isee fog not ing but fog Ah but it is etting clearer now that I look again It's Durell Calvery and Jimmy Caviness t e boys who were such good friends 1n high school f1ght1ng over the Job as dog catcher May the best man win And now Ihave a surprise for everyone Emma Marie Braddock better known at Yale as Lucille Sweeny the second IS making a splend1d record as coach there She recently announced her engagement to Professor Hucklebuck at Yale In this same town I see a saloon Can you guess who the bartender is 'V It is none other than.T I.. Street H1s fellow classmates knew he would gain a promotion because of his training as soda Jerk at the City Drug Store I will take a glimpse of Washington at breakfast time Oh so the President of the Un1tedStatesw1llbe coming in soon I think I have pretty good eyes but surely they have deceived me Ira Gene McClusky walked through the door Who thou ht he would ever go from pres ident of the senior class to President of the Unite States? Now back to our own state Mississippi Here I see Martha Ann Dixon who has made a splendid record as Dean of Blue Mountain College Yes that IS right no husband Wa1t ' What is this I see? No not Joe Wesley Crawfordwhom everyone thought too timid to get anywhere' He has become a wealthy man with his T V show ' K1ll'um Girls starring Billie Ruth Johson as the great bubble dancer I now look 1n an office and see Nancy Barber as a sm1l1ng secretary No wonder she smxles she has ahandsome boss Dorothy Win owho started out to be a great career 1rlhas settleddown withher husband and t ree c1'1ldren incidentally her husban is a pilot She met him on her first trip as an a1rl1ne hostess James Horton has reached his destination E1nste1n's assistant As for Cecil Magers I am very sorry I can't tell ou much abouthim He is Just 'Sport who chan es so often no one knows what t e next day may bring ow I see Nellie Ruth Anderson Gandy in a beautiful home in Texas where she has always wanted to lxve and of course I see Frank and the children out among all the oil wells they own Dimmer and dimmer grows the ball Its message is over and I too will say to you my farewell message Peace Happiness Goodbye ' 9 35.12 ' vf Q I ' ' ' former student of Ripley High School.
