In no less than seven games this season Riordan lost by six points or less, and in others Riordan outscored its opponent in number of field goaIs,only to lose on the free throw line. These last facts characterize the spirit of this team . lt was on agg- ressive outfit that never knew when or how to quit. lt was only out- classed on rare evenings, such as against Bellormine and St. Ignatius. Every opponent realized that it had to go all out to beat the Crusaders. This season might be summed up in the following quote from athletic director, Bro. Robert Maguire, No team could ever let up against Riordan, for, regardless of the score, Riordan was always in the game. Besides the C.A.L. schedule of twelve games, Riordan engaged in fourteen practice games and the C.A. L. Carnival. Highlights of the season included hectic one-point defeats at the hands of Lincoln and Sacred Heart. A third place in the C.A.L. Cor- nival provided an evening of thrills which saw the Crusaders' only loss come at the hands of champion St. Mary's. ln the league there were rousing wins over Serra, Marin Catholic, and St. Elizabeth's, but the most remembered moments will be the first half of the second St. Mary's game, which at one time witnessed Riordan on the front end ofa ten point edge. Riordan can be proud of the 195411955 edition of the Crusaders and its coach Ed Fennelly. N i Ron Thompson, Jr. Brad Bidleman, Jr. 54 Lou Signer, Sr. Jim Murphy, Jr

Coaches Jack Buckley and Stan Springer molded these boys into football players who will someday hold the gloryof Riordan on their shoulders. Although the win, loss column showed the Crusaders on the short end, the team displayed unending fight and deter- mination. The big win of the season was the 20-0 slaughter of Serra . Wi th this year 's co-captains, Buddy Bidleman and Charles Becker, leading the team, our future looks bright. V'
