RADIO SPEECH CONTEST Vinhere of the annual Tuberculosis Speech Contest were George Paugn, Ella Wllladsen, and Nancy Ohrtman. Their topics respect- ively-were. 'The Christmas Seal', 'Heart D1sease', and'What Our Tuberculosis Association Doesf. The speeches were from three and a half to four minutes long. On November 13, the students went to Spencer where their spee- ches were tape recorded. Then, on November 15, at eleven o'clock, they were heard over KICD. HIGH SCHOOL JOURNALISM SHORT COURSE At noon on October 30 we, M Seniors delegates and Mr South left Ringsted for Iowa State University campus at Iowa City Jean ne Lund, Mary Jo Tlndall, Duane Moore, and B111 Twalt were set for the ann1a1 convention of the Iowa High School Press Association The first thing on the agenda Friday morning was registration We then saw some movies on football Aft8P which we broke up into two groups for the divisions of discussion we thought would be most interesting and helpful The groups held were 'How to Stretch your Yearbook Dollar', 'We can et and Use more P1ctures', 'We Print by Offset' and 'The Yearbook s Personality' ter that afternoon, we all went to the Iowa Union for a dis cusslon on 'Improving your Publication' by Don Brown director, Ill inois High School Press Association Friday night we attended the Jamboree at the Union, which was Trampolin entertainers and later dancing by the delegates and Univ erslty students After a few hours rest, we attended another group discussion Then the closing meeting and our good byes' to our new friends and the beautiful Iowa State University campus From the meetings we attended, we learned new ideas for impr- oving our school news and our annual to say nothing of having had a good time JOKES Donny Say Gene just bit my apple so I - .
