RUSSELL STEEL COMPANY 15 THE FIGHTING TIGERS The Tigers faced a difticult schedule this year playing nine out of ten region games. The only non-region game came first, as a discouraging loss to Cleveland. The next three games were rough as the Tigers suffered losses to Lafayette, Chattooga, and Dalton. However, the Tigers played a good game against Dalton, which helped lift the team' spirit. The first victory' of the year was over arch rival Lakeview as the Warriors were defeated 32-21. The Tigers gained another victory for the record books as they were again victorious, this time over Fannin County. The following week the Tigers suffered another loss in a controversial game against Northwest. Our team then hosted top region contender, Murray County, and surprisingly came up with a 7-0 win. The last game of the season against Calhoun was a disappointing loss and the Tigers ended the season with a 4- 6 record. s ,. They took honors of excellence at both the Tri-State and Rome Marching Festivals. The band took several short trips this year. These included a brief concert for the students and faculty of Orange Grove, as well as playing for the Austin Peay Homecoming in which they received first place in the large band division. The band has plans to march in a parade in Richmond, Va. for their annual trip. Much time and hard work went into this year's marching season, and we were proud to have had such a fine representation from RHS! His host while in the states was the Henry C. DeLay family. Perhaps the most outstanding feature of Mauricio's personality was his inde- pendence. This characteristic enabled him to learn much about our way of life by participating in various activities and in making many new friends. Mauricio's leisure activi- ties included a trip to California, Gatlinburg, and several trips to Atlanta. His stay ended on March 17 as he left our country to return to his own family in Vina del Mar, Chile. Mauricio stated as he left that he wished he could one day return to the United States, and also that his friends would always keep in touch. COMPLIMENTS OF RONAL D. GRAHAM D. D.S. The girls were very excited about having a team. Fifty-four girls signed up to play with many more showing up for the first practice. They were all enthusiastic, but Coach Wilkey could choose only 26 players, 13 for Varsity and 13 for B-Team. She must have chosen the best because the Varsity ended the season with a 7-1 record, losing only to South- east Comprehensive. The B-Team also had an excellent season with a record of 4-0. He has been in the FFA for four years and has served as Sentinal and Secretary of that club. He was a great asset to the football team, earning such honore as Best Back his junior year and Mr. Tiger and the MVP trophy as a senior. He also was chosen as a Certificate of Merit win- ner and was voted as Best All Around by his classmates in his freshman, sophomore and junior years. 173 Debbie has been a big part of Ringgold High and it's activities since she was a freshman. Debbie has been a cheerleader for four years and served as co-captain two of those years. She was elected to the Society of Distinguished American High School Students her junior year. All these things have earned Debbie the honor of being the most popular sen- ior girl. Fred's being chosen as the mo6t popular senior boy was an honor well deserved. While in high school, he has played on the baseball, basketball, and foot- ball teams, earning honors in each field. He has been a member of the FCA, FFA, and Beta Club, and has held offices in each. Fred has been voted Most Popular all four years in high school. He served as class vice-president his freshman year and was named to the Society of Distinguished American High School Students as a junior. Participating in such a variety of school activities has played a big part in Fred's being chosen as the most popular boy in the senior class. 174 Willis, being as well liked as he is, was a deserving recipient of this title. He has been in- volved in the FCA, Beta and 4-H Clubs while in high school. He has served as Junior President in FFA and as Presi- dent during his senior year. Willis has been a very active member of the Meek Brother- hood for three years. In her senior year she was a member of the Alpha Coed Y Club and played on the Powder Puff football team. Tammy also was chosen as a Homecoming Queen candidate as a senior, an honor, like all the others, well de- served. 175 Most Dependable is a big order to fill, but Sandra does it with little trouble. Student Coun- cil, in which she served as president her senior year, has been a big paxt of her high school days. Sandra was a member of the Flag Corp her freshman and sophomore years and has been an active mem- ber of PTSA during her junior and senior years. As a freshman and sophomore, Lee was a member of Student Council, FFA, and served his class as their president. He also played on the B-team bas- ketball team as a sophomore. While a senior Lee has been busy fulfilling his duties as the president of the Meek Brother- hood. High School definitely wouldn't have been the same without the presence of Lee. 177 David has, on many different occasions, kept people laugh- ing with his wit and humor. There's a lot to be said for people who can make others happy with just a few words and gestures. David has been in CVAE and was a member of the Pep Club. He also partici- pated in the 4-H Club as a freshman. He is a friend to many people and will be long remembered by all of his classmates. Susan is something else. She served as School Projects chairman as a junior and senior in the Alpha Y Club. She has, as a senior, participated in the projects and meetings of the Interact Club. He has been a member of the FFA and Key Clubs, serving as Key Club treasurer during his senior year. He also has been in the FCA for three years and served as its treasurer as a senior. He has been involved in the FCA as a freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior. Kendall also served as a Big Brother on the Student Council and worked as a Guidance Office Aide in his senior year. On the football team Randall played the position of guard. As a freshman and sophomore, Randall ran track. She was in the Omega Y Club and served as Vice- President during her sopho- more year. Nina also was in the Alpha, Interact and Pep Clubs. Scott has been active in the FCA during his sophomore, junior and senior years. He has been a member of the wrestling team for four years and earned the trophy for Most Hustle as a sophomore and junior. Also during his sophomore year, Scott earned a Typing award. She received many honors in high school, some of which include Georgia Certificate of Merit and the Governor's Honors program. 184 To be the neatest is an ac- complishment for any boy, especially Louis. He is a nice dresser, but more noticeable is his sparkling personality. Louis has been a member of the base- ball team for four years and won the trophy for best fielder while a sophomore. He was also on the wrestling team as a sophomore, junior and senior and placed First in the North Georgia Tournament as a Junior. This is the second year Louis has been chosen the neatest boy in his class. Donna was not only the neatest girl in the senior class, but she was very involved in the ac- tivities of the school. All her efforts and hard work have not gone unnoticed by her classmates. She's added a lot to RHS. 185 DEDICA TION To dedicate means to set aside Because someone has lived or died. And in that act of dying or living. They've given more than the usual giving. To dedicate means to commemorate Someone who's done something truly great. And so, about this time of year. We dedicate to them something we find dear. To dedicate sometimes means to say thanks To someone we feel really ranks. Because of what he's given to RHS, We dedicate this Shadow to Coach Vest. -MAC L m !- 186 IN MEMORY JOHN WIGGINS CLASS OF '32 JOE BURTON CLASS OF '75 EDDIE VINES CLASS OF '76 CALENDAR JANUARY MARCH Cayce Callaway 188 SPONSORED BY WALKER INSURANCE AGENCY RINGGOLD, GA Susan Sarratt OCTOBER Lisa Ramey NOVEMBER Cathy Turner DECEMBER Laura Payne SHERATON INN - CHATTANOOGA SOUTH 189 Joni Bolden Kathy Russell GIRLS JULY SEPTEMBER AUGUST 190 HENRY RUBENSTEIN'S FOR MEN AND YOUNG MEN ROSSVILLE SHOPPING CENTER COMPLIMENTS OF USAF RECRUITING OFFICE SGT. Many thanks are extended to the businesses who have helped us financially and to Jim Jolley of Olan Mills for his patience in working with us on pictures. We also want to express our appreciation to our advisor, Mrs. Anderson, for unselfishly giving her time and talent. The staff this year was a great one, and they worked very hard to put out a book that they hope you will enjoy for many years to come ! 205 206 REED'S LAWN AND GARDEN SNAPPER PRODUCTS BLACK'S CHEVRON SERVICE 1-75 U.S. 41 SOUTH RINGGOLD, GA RANDY BLACK DEALER 207 I feel sick.
