Ray Elrod scored the Tigers' lone touchdown on a six-yard run off tackle. Donald Patterson made several fine runs up the middle of the Murray line. Wade Childers, Jim Jay, and Winfred Long were standouts on de- fense. Billy Davis and Wayne Larkin ran well. Pe- ters, Black, Hackett, and Hullender were standouts on offense. RINGGOLD—7 LAKEVIEW—6 On September 17 Ringgold invaded Lakeview and set the Warriors down by a 7 to 6 score. It took a long time to overcome the jinx Lakeview has had on Ringgold, but this was the year. Ringgold's big fullback, Donald Patterson, made himself known in Lakeview by scoring the Tigers' touchdown and then running the POINT that won the ball game. Ray El- rod gained the most ground with 149 yards of the Tigers' 257. The whole Ringgold line should be praised by its splendid play. RINGGOLD—38 CHATT. VALLEY—21 On September 24 Ringgold rolled over Chatt. Val- ley by a 38 to 21 score. Coach Jones used every man on the squad. Donald Patterson and Ray Elrod shared scoring honors with two touchdowns each. Billy Davis and Wayne Larkin scored the other Ringgold touch- downs on fine runs. Larkin passed to Hackett for the two extra points. Pitts, Black, and Bridges were standouts for Ringgold. RINGGOLD—47 LAFAYETTE—13 On October 1 Ringgold romped over the visiting team by a 47 to 13 score. Ray Elrod led the attack with three touchdowns, a 55-yard run and two plunges, and two extra points. A total of 20. Johnney White was a star scoring two touchdowns. Billy Davis and Lawton Massingill scored one time each. Larkin kicked two extra points and passed to Hackett for the last point. Jay, Childers, Peters, and Long were stand- outs in the line. RINGGOLD—14 TYNER—19 On October 15 Tyner rode out a first half lead to defeat the Tigers 19 to 14. The Tigers scored first with Bill Davis climaxing a 65-yard drive dashing off tackle for 15 yards. Donald Patterson scored the Tigers' last touchdown from 20 yards out. Wayne Larkin kicked both points. Pitts, Hullender, and Hackett were defensive standouts. RINGGOLD—12 CALHOUN—19 On October 8 Calhoun rolled into Ringgold and defeated the Tigers 19 to 12. Ray Elrod scored the first Tiger touchdown on a nine-yard end run. Donald Patterson scored the second on a 15-yard gallop through the middle of the Calhoun line. Rhinehart, Sims, Childers, and Jay were defensive stars for the Tigers. Patterson, Elrod, Davis, Peters, and Denton were offensive standouts. RINGGOLD—13 DUCKTOWN—13 On October 22 Ringgold battled once beaten Duck- town to a 13-13 draw. Ray Elrod scored both touch- downs and the PAT to lead the Tigers. The first, a nine-yard run and the second, a 63-yard pass play from Lawton Massingill with one minute left to play. Massingill completed four of six tosses. Donald Patterson and Bill Davis made several fine runs. Peters, Jay, Long, and Childers were standouts for the Tigers. RINGGOLD—6 ELLIJAY—27 On October 29 Ringgold traveled to Ellijay and went down before the Bobcats by a score of 27 to 6. Ray Elrod scored Ringgold’s lone touchdown on a pass from Lawton Massingill. Bill Pitts, Jim Jay, and Bill Rhinehart were defensive standouts for the Tigers. RINGGOLD—13 SUMMERVILLE—19 On November 5 Summerville edged by Ringgold by a score of 19 to 13- The Tigers played extremely well considering that Summerville is the 3-A Cham- pion. Big Fullback Donald Patterson spearheaded the Tigers attark by scoring both the touchdowns and the PAT. The Tigers, who were behind at halftime, 13 to 0, came back to tie it up before Summerville squeezed in a TD in the last few minutes to win the game. Childers, Peters, Elrod, and Davis were offen- sive stars along with Patterson. Hullender and Den- ton were defensive standouts. RINGGOLD—19 DADE CO—2 On November 12 Ringgold beat Dade 19 to 2. Ray Elrod led the attack with two TD's. Elrod had a total of 75 points for the year, 12 TD's and 3 PAT. Bill Davis scored the last TD from the one- yard line.
