We must set our goals carefully and then strive to attain them. In order to make our youthful dreams become reality, we must work. Our quest to fulfill these dreams will be difficult, but not impossible. Maturity and flexibility are the primary elements which will determine our success or failure. The world is ever- changing, and, in order to succeed, we must have the maturity to face it without qualms and the flexibility to change with it. If we hesitate or become complacent, our dreams will shatter, and we will be heard vainly echoing regret that ‘It might have been!’ ” “God pity them both; and pity us all Who vainly the dreams of youth recall For of all sad words of tongue or pen The saddest are these: ‘It might have been!’ ” John Greenleaf Whittier ) 4 wd lb Aaministration Say SS, INO via’ tendent I B Assistant ete Niaras Fi Schools “| 4 MR. Mr. Fitzgerald, who has just retired, has asked that the following lines be regarded as a farewell to his classmates, friends, and co-workers. Vale When I was young as some of you recall I was oft times impatient—most of all with countless things from cabbages to kings that moved reluctantly as pupils unprepared and called: to blackboard demonstration. I had not sensed the truth that God had flung an atmosphere of hesitation round His image cast in fragile clay— that only day by day man makes his way to goals that shimmering lie beyond his feeble grasping of today. Slowly I learned as burned my life away to treasure what remains amid the ash, to hold the living hands, the hearts, the souls the final things that are life’s finer goals. And thus I never knew till now how hard could be to greet you, bow and say farewell to you classmates and friends: our learning not our teaching never ends. We hope that through this book, we have por- trayed a span of these pathways to the future upon which each of us travels. Education is in itself a wide and heavily traveled pathway. There are many forks in this pathway, each leading to some goal set by those who are traveling upon it. Just as some roads are unpaved, so are some path- - ways to success unpaved. There are many rough and threatening sections. However, if the goal is kept in view, all difficulties can be surmounted, and_ the pathway will have served its purpose of furnishing a means of guidance. as With these ideas in mind, we have presented to you the 1968 RINDGE WARRIOR.
