1940 RINDGE TECH SCHOOL MR. JOHN Y. MURRAY Head of the Electrical Department AE CUASS, OF 40 is very definite in its opinion that Rindge Technical School possesses the finest electricity teacher in Massachusetts. Mr. Murray is an able executive, and the Class of ’40 feels proud to have come in contact with this capable man. He is one of the teachers that we would willingly approach to obtain assist- ance, | n—or £ PVVLEr ( j CoN RINDGE SENIOR TEACHERS one will not permut us to list all the teachers with whom we come in contact, hence we can say a word about only our Senior teachers: MR. BALFE: A man who is a brilliant English teacher and who is also head of the spelling department. He is a teacher that is loved by all. He tries to see if he can improve the students spelling by holding a spelling bee in the auditorium once a year. MR. BERKELY: For an apparently young man we find he has a head of an “Einstein” and a delightful way of imparting to us the difficult study of Physics. The Class of 1940 will miss you. MR. SAMUEL D. COHEN: A newcomer to Rindge last year, he teaches the most difficult and yet the most interesting subject of Chemistry. His quick sense of humor keeps us all from entire despair. The Class of ’40 bids you a fond and hearty farewell. MR. D’ARCY: All of us who were in his English and French Classes will long remember him for both the teacher and inspirer that he was. yomrd)

12 “THE BROWNIE” MER. GHARLES Aa IcEND Gian MR. LINEHAN is truly a friend of the Seniors he comes in contact with during the year. He is indeed a wizard at math- ematics. He uses his abilities to the great- est extent to teach his pupils. Any Rindge student who passes Mr. Linehan’s course can consider himself as one who is well acquainted with mathematics. Since Mr. Linehan is a graduate of Rindge, he knows Rindge boys very well. As a football coach, Mr. Linehan turned out great athletes. Now as a teacher he turns out men. To Mr. Linehan the Class of ’40 wishes to express its appreciation and hope that he will continue his fine work at Rindge. 1940 CS MR. HENRY C. LYNCH Head of the Language Department MR. LYNCH is considered by the Class of “40 one of the most ardent Rindge rooters. In addition to being faculty man- ager of all sports, he is head of the foreign language department. Those of us who have tried to master French know that to be the head of this department requires a very capable and intellectual person. After having studied under Mr. Lynch, we know that he more than fulfills all the requirements for a successful head of de- partment. -

He holds the admiration and respect of the boys for his interesting way of teaching his subject. MR. DUGAN: His ready wit and genial character has made him well liked by all those who come in contact with him. MR. P. J. FITZGERALD: A man who is sincere in his work and has the ability to help the student who has trouble with his English. He is a man who lets himself go when he is teaching English because he loves the work that he is doing. He is a friend to all who come in contact with him. MR. HAHN is one of the reasons why the Aero course is one of the best in the state. MR. GUNARD E. HAUGH: We, the Senior Class, wish to express our sincere thanks to Mr. Gunard E. Haugh for the untiring services that he has rendered to us in the library. He has at all times, with willingness, helped us to secure books or work in literature without any hesitation. MR. HEALEY: A man who makes mathematics easier to all the seniors in his classes. He is indeed a friend that we will miss. MR. WILLIAM KELLEHER imbedded into our minds not only a knowl- edge of American History, but also a deeper understanding of ourselves. He never let a day pass by without showing us something new about the world, our country, or one another. Hus helpful criticism made us realize the many ways in which we were wrong. He explained to us why we should work honestly and thoughtfully toward an ultimate goal. MR. LADD: He helped us learn Chemistry by combining humor with it. MR. WILLIAM McLAUGHLIN will be particularly remembered by the group in ’40 who enjoyed his fine course in literature. MR. MELLON shy metallography. reacher, whgyreally can put across the difficult study of MR.
