12 “THE BROWNIE” MER. GHARLES Aa IcEND Gian MR. LINEHAN is truly a friend of the Seniors he comes in contact with during the year. He is indeed a wizard at math- ematics. He uses his abilities to the great- est extent to teach his pupils. Any Rindge student who passes Mr. Linehan’s course can consider himself as one who is well acquainted with mathematics. Since Mr. Linehan is a graduate of Rindge, he knows Rindge boys very well. As a football coach, Mr. Linehan turned out great athletes. Now as a teacher he turns out men. To Mr. Linehan the Class of ’40 wishes to express its appreciation and hope that he will continue his fine work at Rindge. 1940 CS MR. HENRY C. LYNCH Head of the Language Department MR. LYNCH is considered by the Class of “40 one of the most ardent Rindge rooters. In addition to being faculty man- ager of all sports, he is head of the foreign language department. Those of us who have tried to master French know that to be the head of this department requires a very capable and intellectual person. After having studied under Mr. Lynch, we know that he more than fulfills all the requirements for a successful head of de- partment. -

Mr. McCabe is well known for his un- tiring efforts helping us, and for his pleasant disposition. Therefore, we, the Class of 1940, wish Mr. Francis T. McCabe years of happiness and prosperity. 11

1940 RINDGE TECH SCHOOL MR. JOHN Y. MURRAY Head of the Electrical Department AE CUASS, OF 40 is very definite in its opinion that Rindge Technical School possesses the finest electricity teacher in Massachusetts. Mr. Murray is an able executive, and the Class of ’40 feels proud to have come in contact with this capable man. He is one of the teachers that we would willingly approach to obtain assist- ance, | n—or £ PVVLEr ( j CoN RINDGE SENIOR TEACHERS one will not permut us to list all the teachers with whom we come in contact, hence we can say a word about only our Senior teachers: MR. BALFE: A man who is a brilliant English teacher and who is also head of the spelling department. He is a teacher that is loved by all. He tries to see if he can improve the students spelling by holding a spelling bee in the auditorium once a year. MR. BERKELY: For an apparently young man we find he has a head of an “Einstein” and a delightful way of imparting to us the difficult study of Physics. The Class of 1940 will miss you. MR. SAMUEL D. COHEN: A newcomer to Rindge last year, he teaches the most difficult and yet the most interesting subject of Chemistry. His quick sense of humor keeps us all from entire despair. The Class of ’40 bids you a fond and hearty farewell. MR. D’ARCY: All of us who were in his English and French Classes will long remember him for both the teacher and inspirer that he was. yomrd)
